Excellent Ideas.  I tried suggesting a UPS to them, but they don't seem to think they need it.

I'll try defaulting the DHCP settings and setting them again.

Hello,
I have a customer with a Mitel MiVoice 250 running 6.2 firmware.
They have an issue where when the power goes out (blackout) and the phone system reboots, the internal DHCP server fails to start.
all the IP phones turn on, but do not get any DHCP until i log into the system.  I have to turn off the DHCP server, and then enable it.
Then all the phones boot up correctly.
If i reboot the system or do a shutdown, when i turn it back on the DHCP works.

Any body have any ideas on why it fails after the power loss?

When programming the buttons, does the layout start at the bottom left and count upwards, or does it start at the top left and work its way down?
Trying to program one on a remote site and i don't have access to the hardware.
Customer bought their own, and have attached to the phone.
But i'm not sure where to start programming the buttons.

I'm having a weird problem with a MiVoice 250 using a PRI.
Recently the customer reduced their number of B-Channels from 23 to 14 to help cut costs, they also reduced the number of retained phone numbers. The phones were setup so that the outbound caller ID of their extensions was their name and their Direct Number. A few of them even have their extensions forwarded out to their cell phones, as they are almost never in the office.

About 2 weeks later, they experienced a problem where they were unable to make outbound calls.  Incoming calls were not affected, unless they were forwarded out to a cell phone.  If you dialed an invalid phone number, the tel-co provided the recording saying your call could not be completed. but if you dialed correctly, then you would get about 6 seconds of dead air and reorder tone.  None of the B-Channels would engage. The Tel-co could see the invalid attempts, but could not see any of the failed calls.
Through sheer dumb luck, i found that when i removed the Names off of the outbound caller ID, outbound calls began to work again.  I had to disable the "Propagate outbound caller ID" in order to make calls forwarded to cell phones function.
The customer doesn't like this as calls coming to cell should the main Pilot number instead of the caller, so if the call gets disconnected, they don't know who to call back.

The Tel-co says nothing has changed in the customers account information, and their call screening table is clear.   I can set the outbound caller ID number to anything i want without causing a problem.  But if anything is in the Name section, the call fails.  The Tel-co suggested that if they aren't blocking numbers, why would they block names.

Can anyone think of what could cause this to happen, or some way to propagate the incoming caller ID without the name portion?
Thanks

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MCD / 3300 2 B-Channel transfer
« on: March 28, 2016, 01:39:17 PM »
I have a customer running a 3300 and they want to be able to use the 2 B-channel Transfer feature of their system.
However we are getting our PRI service on a DMS-100 running the NI-1 protocol.

All the documentation i can find refers to it working on the NI-2 protocol.
Anyone know of it working on NI-1 or do we need to have it changed to NI-2?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Mitel 5000 SIP Server
« on: March 10, 2016, 12:49:01 PM »
Yes, the SIP listening port in the Advanced settings is set to No. And the port is still set to 5060.

I thought this was used only if they were using an external SIP server.
I will reactivate it and restart the system and see if that fixes it.

Thanks.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mitel 5000 SIP Server
« on: March 08, 2016, 06:04:19 PM »
Hello there,
I have a MiVoice Office 5000 running version 6.0 SP3 PR3.  Our MAS server is running the Mitel Unified Communication Application which runs the UCA App on the IPhones.  All traffic is internal to the network and are all on the same IP range as the PBX and  the MAS.
We were running about 6 SIP soft phones on Mitel's IPhone app and they were working fine until recently.
Now i am unable to get them to register with the PBX.  They only seem to timeout and are not rejected.
At the same time, our UC360 conference Phone also began to fail to register as well.
No network changes have occurred, but the phones no longer function.
I have deleted one of the SIP phones and tried recreating them, with no effect.

When i do a wire shark capture, i do not see any SIP traffic.
I also tried connecting the UC360 directly to the AUX port on the 5000 with a POE injector to see if i could get it to register.
While the Phone connects to the DHCP and time Server, we still get nothing for registrations.

Anybody know why this might stop working, and what else i can try to to figure this out?

Thanks

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Star Code Access Denied
« on: July 17, 2015, 04:41:52 PM »
Hello there,  I am a newbie to the 3300, and I am trying to cover for the senior technician who is on vacation.
I have 2x3300 controllers linked together in a cluster with a MAS nupoint as the centralised server.  The Main controller is an 3300 Mxe III and the 2nd location is running a 3300 Cx II.
For some reason I cannot find, you cannot dial star codes at the 2nd site.  they work fine at the main building, but as soon as you dial a * you get access denied.   I cannot find anything in the class of restrictions or dial plans.

Any ideas on what i should look for that would deny * codes on all phones at 2nd site?

Our Customer is running a Mitel 3300 to control his hotel.  The Front Desk is manned by 2 5540 IP Consoles.  We just added a 5330e set to a back office for a new manager.
The main Phone line is answered by the embedded voicemail and presents a number of one touch options to the caller. Calls to the front desk (reservations) ring to a non-prime group (898) on the two 5540 IP consoles (Ext 1198 and 1199). So far, all is good. What the customer asked for the other day was to add a third answer point in the back office in the form of a 5330e IP set (extension 1113), so that when the front desk attendants were busy with customers standing at the counter checking in, they could “press a button” and have calls start ringing at the back office extension. The ringing of the set in the back office can be accomplished by using redirection in Night2 to send calls designated for 898 to ring to a multi-call key on 1113, but it only rings at 1113. However, the customer decided they want the calls to ring at 1113 and continue to ring on the consoles at the front as well (although why you would want the phone at the front annoying you while you are dealing with a live customer I'm not sure).

I can't figure out a way to make the consoles ring at the same time as the 5330 set in the back office.  especially one where the customer can change via a button push on the front console.

Any Ideas?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / mitel 5000 Analog hotline to outgoing
« on: June 18, 2014, 05:10:08 PM »
Hello,
I am running a Mitel 5000 version 6.0 PR 5.
I want to use the first analog port to run my fax machine with an Extension of 11021
I am using a 23 channel PRI for dial tones.

What my customer wants to do is make it so they do not have to dial 8 for outgoing faxes.
I've tried setting the house phone on and making it dial 8 or 92001 for trunk access, but it does not allow calls to outbound every time.
a couple of times it has actually accessed my paging system.  (my area starts with a 7 which is the page code)

I've changed the page code to prevent the fax machine using the paging system, but i cannot figure out a reliable method of making the analog set always grab the CO trunk when off hook.

Her desk phone would ring even when using the headset, so it would ring in both.

Burst still  covered up what people were saying so that doesn't work.
Turned off camp-on notifications, but now the physical phone doesn't ring. so that doesn't work.

After trying various options and nothing was satisfying them, they mentioned that if they are on the line with someone, they rarely put them on hold to grab the next call.  so i just made it so if they are busy it goes to voicemail.

Now the ringing is not a problem.

Any ways, Thanks for the help.

My customer has a mitel 5000 with a 5340e desk set.  She is the system's receptionist and uses the bluetooth headset to answer all the incoming calls.  She did not like the call ringing in her ear when new calls came in and tshe was already on the line as she was unable to hear the person on the line.  Changed to the Burst notification so she only gets a single beep to notify of new calls.

She would prefer it if there was no notification from the headset.  The desk phone already lights up on new calls, and she stays mostly at her desk. Anyone know of a method of disabling the headset from notifying of new calls?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Calls not going to the dialed number
« on: August 29, 2013, 05:05:23 PM »
Hello,
I have a mitel 5000 (running version 6) with 8 analog co trunks and mostly 5320 sets.  This is an intermittent problem, where when the customer dials a number like the sales guy's cell phone, the call will go to a completely different phone number.  however, the call display on the dialing phone shows the correct phone number and the SMDR log also shows the correct number.

I tried calling out with a test telephone set connected directly to the Telco equipment to bypass the mitel and was unable to reproduce the problem. so i do not believe that the telco is the problem.

Is there any way that the co trunk ports are converting the IP signal incorrectly when converting to the analog trunks?

or any other ideas on what i can try?

Hello,

I have 2 companies sharing the same mitel 5000, and have 2 distinct hunt groups for their ringing phones.
The customer wants the phones to ring a specific set of phones, but wants the ability to forward that group to an external number when no one is going to be available to answer.  They want a manual button for their 5330 phones, so that if "Dave" is the only guy in the office, he can forward the hunt group to his cell.  but when someone else comes in they can cancel the forwarding on their set.
So what i need is a group call forward button that can appear on multiple sets so others can know when i've forwarded the calls.

Any ideas?

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Mitel 5000 wanting 2 night modes
« on: June 27, 2013, 04:00:46 PM »
Hello,
I have a mitel 5000 (version 5.1.0.35) with a PRI service containing 35 DID's.

2 of these DIDS are for dispatch lines which need to manually be forwarded to cell phones when dispatchers not in office, but need to ring other phones when on site.
What is the best way to have it set up so that these 2 extensions can control their own lines, but still have it so others can pick up the calls if the dispatcher is just busy.

Both have 5330 phones.
