Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Extend Paging System
« on: September 01, 2013, 01:13:36 AM »
So, you want any internal paging (phone to phone) to go through the external amp in the classroom? Are you sure you really want to do that since the user will have no control over any paging they will recieve......especially if the pupils get to know the paging codes.

Where were you reading out of interest?

The users not having control isn't an issue for us.

I've just been researching all over the place and come across a few people stating that they have done what I am looking at trying to do. I couldn't state one location, it has just been here and there while I researched my options.

Yes, via the system and the paging port (and IP as well). Its just a wire between the system box and the amplifier and a bit of programming in its simplest form. Does require a reboot though if its not been set up before. Then use a page key or the dial-able codes to use it. You can also allow/disallow phones on a per phone basis using COS. Its all in thge help file on the system.

How does the system know which PA is for which phone? From my understanding, you are saying to connect the main controller to a single amplifier, which is then connected to all of the PA speakers.

This is for a school, and we have a discrete amp in every classroom that powers the in-ceiling speakers. Each classroom also has a Mitel 5312 IP phone. I was reading and it sounded like there was the ability to connect the phone (without any wire splicing or dodgy means) to a discrete amp and program it so that any paging came through the amp - speakers.

Hi, does anybody know if we can connect the Mitel 5312 IP phones to an amplifier so we can use external speakers as a paging and PA system?
Thanks.

I have done this many time.  It works perfectly and the cost is only the ip phone.  You can also adjust the volume with the phone.....

That sounds exactly like what I am after. Could you possibly elaborate on how? Would be very much appreciated.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Voice Mail Stuck in Limbo
« on: June 20, 2013, 09:22:43 PM »
Hi there, I have a strange issue.

I have one voicemail box that forwards to an email address.  When I changed IPs of my Mitel box the emails stopped flowing and I found out that the Exchange Server was not relaying from the Mitel IP.  New voice mail messages are now working and going to the correct email.  However, there is about 65 messages that are in the voicemail box that are not being forwarded.  THere was an error message in the log file saying that they couldn't be forwarded because of SMTP issue (before fixing Exchange).

Does anyone know how to push these messages through?

I forgot to mention. I have tried to reboot the Mitel 3300, no luck

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the reply's

I don't believe the PoE switches are powering off at night because I would get  a notification that my Access Points have lost power through their management console.

My Phone are getting logged out around 3am however, and I have log files saying ICP has lost contact with ... From the hearbeat server (see attached photo).
Would this be the bug discussed in the other forum?

The strange this is that it is showing the IP of the phone (172.16.18.x) as well as the device attached to the phone from a different VLAN (172.16.20.x).  If that log file is correct it is only showing log of connectivity of a few phones because we have approximately 50 phones onsite. 3 of which are the Hot Desk Phones, 2 of the HD phones are plugged into one switch and the third is in a different switch, in a different building.

I've also attached a screen shot of the three HD phones coming back online with the following phone/user affinity.
Phone Device   ---   Hot Desk User
201                          175
202                          143
203                          149

Thanks again
Tyson

Thanks for the reply,

I've looked in the Scheduler and haven't found anything, at least there is nothing that is a repeating event to log out users.

This is the information I have about the version
Release Level: 5.0 SP2 PR1
Active Software load: 11.0.2.19
Platform MXe-III, 512MB of RAM

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Hot Desking Auto Logout?
« on: May 20, 2013, 08:52:55 PM »
Hi there,

I have a Mitel 3300 controller and Mitel 5312 and 5330 phones on site.  We have only a few users that use hot desking and the rest are just regular users.

What happens is that every night the host desk phones log out and go back to their original numbers.  Is there a way to have them not auto log out?

The users that hot desk only switch on Fridays and they often come in and there phones are logged out and start to miss calls.

Thanks you
Tyson

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Mitel 3300 MXe III drops IP address
« on: January 08, 2013, 07:19:11 PM »
Ok I got it working!!

What I found out.  Using the "definitive shell command guide" from this site (legendary!!) I ran the command vlan_off.  As soon as I did that the IP came back online.  Running vlan_on dropped the IP again.

I have an HP switch and I had untagged the port for the 3300 on the voice VLAN and tagged the other VLANs that were allowed.  What I needed to do was tag the voice port and other vlans and it came back up straight away.

Doesn't fully make sense to me that the port for the 3300 has to be tagged and not untagged but that fixed it for me so woohoo

I have also setup DHCP with my Windows server.  I have a Windows 2012 server and the DHCP for this server doesn't have a lot of the older options.  I was advised to use option 43 for the Mitel phones.

It contains option 43 for both the default vlan and the vlan the phones are going to be on.

Below is my connection string for option 43

id:ipphone.mitel.com;sw_tftp=172.16.18.1;call_srv=172.16.18.1;vlan=18;mode=minet

I just wanted to add that it also sometimes drops the IP half way or part way through boot up.

I don't know if this is any help but here is a few outputs from the box

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 3300 MXe III drops IP address
« on: January 08, 2013, 01:00:47 AM »
HI there,

I am currently in the process of reconfiguring all our network devices.  We used to have a flat network with no VLANs and now we have VLANs.  Im at the stage of putting out Mitel phone system on it's own VLAN.

I changed to IP address of the Mitel 3300 MXe III and it now boots up fine, but after about 5 minutes of being booting up it drops its IP address.  During the boot up I can ping the device and once booted the phones even get the proper (new) VLANs and DHCP addresses, however after about 5 minutes I loss connection to the 3300 and all the phones go offline.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this at all?
