Mitel Software Applications / Unknown Caller on Nupoint
« on: February 25, 2011, 11:13:41 AM »
Hi guys,

I have Nupoint 4.1 installed and have enabled UM-SMTP (the free one!). When someone leaves a message I recieve an email from "Unknown Caller [non-mail-user@abcdefg.gov.uk]" for example. Also in Subject field "Voice Message from Unknown Caller". Have enabled FCOS bits 262 and 263.

Will this ever work or am I overlooking something?

Cheers

If your luckily enough to have cisco POE routers your can issue the "show cdp neighbor" command and it will give you a list of mac address (after the SEP)
eg:
Level-10-SW1#sh cdp nei
Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge
                  S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater, P - Phone,
                  D - Remote, C - CVTA, M - Two-port Mac Relay

Device ID        Local Intrfce     Holdtme    Capability  Platform  Port ID
SEP08000F285315  Fas 1/0/24        127              H P   Mitel 521 Port 1
SEP08000F268A7C  Fas 1/0/29        145              H P   Mitel 521 Port 1
SEP08000F258EE5  Fas 1/0/39        148              H P   Mitel 534 Port 1
SEP08000F26EB18  Fas 1/0/13        152              H P   Mitel 521 Port 1
SEP08000F281375  Fas 1/0/2         136              H P   Mitel 521 Port 1
SEP08000F25BA96  Fas 1/0/15        175              H P   Mitel 534 Port 1
SEP08000F274AE9  Fas 1/0/16        165              H P   Mitel 521 Port 1

Or to find the DN's and model number allocated to the phone's connected to the switch do
Level-10-SW1#sh cdp nei det | in DN
Platform: Mitel 5212DM,DN 4208     ,  Capabilities: Host Phone
Platform: Mitel 5212DM,DN 1067     ,  Capabilities: Host Phone
Platform: Mitel 5340DM,DN 4873     ,  Capabilities: Host Phone
Platform: Mitel 5212DM,DN 8731     ,  Capabilities: Host Phone

Mitel Software Applications / Nupoint 4.1 and UM-SMTP (outside callers)
« on: January 24, 2011, 07:45:24 AM »
Hi,

We have a Nupoint 4.1 system with UM-SMTP enabled. Is there a way of getting the CLI of the outside caller put into the from field when UM-SMTP emails the message?

Is this at all possible as I can't seem to find any FCOS bits that relate to this?

Cheers

Found it in the NPM 4.1 release notes.

Locate your copy of the Managed Application Server 7.0.0.19 (or later) CD and boot the system with this CD in the CDROM drive.
Proceed to the screen where it asks you to select either to upgrade the system or to reinstall it. At this point, press Alt+F2.
A command prompt appears.

I've just rolled out 200 of these for a very important customer hope this isn't going to come back and bite me in the a**.

Can you not disable it in the COS so that the vm ports cant make external calls?

DBMS Flag off doesn't default everything all you cluster elements will still be there.

Easiest way is to interupt the boot process do a manual reinstall. Details should be in engineering handbook.

Mitel Software Applications / Nupoint "Root user/password disappeared"
« on: January 18, 2011, 10:46:22 AM »
Hi,

After a recent upgrade to our nupoint server from version 3 to version 4. I can no longer log in as the root user even at the console the error logs report this:-

Jan 18 15:08:09 nupoint esmith::event[4365]: adjust-services=action|Event|email-update|Action|adjust-services|Start|1295363289 119700|End|1295363289 897145|Elapsed|0.777445
Jan 18 15:43:04 nupoint sshd: pam_ldap: error trying to bind as user "uid=root,ou=Users,dc=oldham,dc=gov,dc=uk" (Invalid credentials)

I remember reading something somewhere that I could recreate/restore the root user using the MSL disk. Has anyone done this and if so have any pointers? Or do I need to boot into single user mode and do it the old fashioned way?

Cheers
