Well that stinks. Any way to allow them to enable/disable nights without being an administrator? We're still adding/cutting over phones, so they keep getting warnings about things being off-hook or expired while we tweak the remaining phone placements.
Nope, the two go hand in hand... if you want to be able to change D/N you must get system alarms as well. Sorry

You have to use Station Speed dials as as you have found system speed dials go straight to the Outgoing extn.

I use station speed dials to configure pick up buttons for groups, 42005 etc.

So this should work to access particular trunks groups then dialling access codes.

You can then assign these station speed dials to spare buttons.
This would work too... I totally spaced this out even though I do it all the time!

You build a Station Speed Dial with what you need, lets say Speed Dial Bin 3, to include 7*#1, then you program a button on the phones for Station Speed Dial Bin 3. This is exactly the same way you allow a user program numbers under a one touch button.

Anyone with the Administrator flag set will get system alarms in the local system, that is just the way the system works.

The "Broadcast System Alarms" flag controls whether or not system alarms are broadcast to the network so that administrators on other systems in the network get alarms for remote systems, it has nothing to do with local alarms. There is no way to turn off system alarm messages without disabling the Administrator flag that I am aware of.

Note that if the main alarm you get is the Insufficient Bandwidth alarm, that can be disabled in System Flags, otherwise there isn't much you can do.

Yup... First thing I would do now is blow away the extension, build a dummy one, then rebuild the extension with a default COS, then delete the dummy one, and see if the problem persists, if it does replace the set, if it doesn't then change the COS back to what it was and if all good your all set, if the problem crops up again turn off COS features until you find the culprit!

The dummy extension is just a placeholder so you don't rebuild the phone with the same software ID, it's an old SX200 trick when you have strange feature issues.

Well, you kinda went down the road I was going to direct too... Although I prefer to put the trunk in a group and then use 6 (no one EVER uses Queue Request that I have seen) as an extension for that trunk group but that is just how I learned years ago...

So there are a couple options to possibly make this simpler for the user, although it might make for some interesting programming and could potentially cause other conflicts but just looking at what you said so far it is possible to shorten this sequence, some things that could be effected are the Outgoing button not working for making calls (have to dial 8+ everytime), if you want I can go through it, but it can get really convoluted and involves changes lots of FACs, some user training, and a serious knowledge of all the features your customer is actually using...

This cannot really be done this way on the 5000... The System Speed Dial is only for external numbers and will go out the Outgoing Extension defined for the station that accesses the System Speed Dial number.

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish here, the way describe doesn't work on the 5000 but there are easier ways... Can you give me a better overview of exactly what's going on here? I am assuming you are trying to access some kind of page controller connected to a LS Trunk port on the system, then dialing a zone number?

Also, I believe if you look in the embedded help under Record A Call in the features section (not in front of a 3300 right now, might need to use the search function), there is a complete section on this feature with a walk-thru of all programming steps involved. There are several, including changes to the VM COS, Station COS, and Hunt Group changes.

I have seen many Telco lines where "Positive Disconnect" is an option on trunks and you need to request it from the carrier, it is typically called CO Disconnect, Positive Disconnect, Calling Party Disconnect, or Release Confirmation. What should happen on a business analog line is there should be a break in the voltage from the telco for anywhere 200-1000 msec shortly after the far end disconnects, or the telco sends a CPC Tone (Calling Party Disconnect Tone) to confirm the remote end disconnected and the 3300 will see this and act appropriately. Note that some ATA devices (like what cable companies or SIP providers use to give you analog dialtone) do not support positive disconnect. I have also seen some carrier that charge an additional fee for this "feature".

Like Ralph posted above, the disconnect timer in the CO Descriptor should be just lower than the telco disconnect timer (if Open Loop Disconnect is used), but if you shorten it too much lines can disconnect in the middle of conversation, for example if there is an aerial cable with a bad splice and the wind blows and opens the connection momentarily. Also, I always disable the  "Ignore far end disconnect" AND "Release Supervision Expected", and typically enable "Calling Party Disconnect" but in some instances it needs to be disabled for the 3300 to release properly, I know that's counter intuitive but it happens sometimes.

With lines from the local cable company, I need to lower the Disconnect Timer in the 3300 to 350ms for the lines to consistently release properly, at the default of 500 they occasionally get hung up in the system.

Ralph is correct... all 3300's that I have worked with (about Rls 7 and up) have the ability to do call recording with the embedded VM, and the setup is exactly as you described. Doing call recording with an external VM can be a little more challenging, although Nupoint does this very well I am told (I haven't done this though, other than in class).

One way we have done this in the past is setup the mailboxes to automatically forward to email then delete the message from the VM system... You can use this to make an archive of a department by sending all the messages to one email address then setup the Exchange server or a client to automatically archive these into a specific folder. Note that recording every call for several phones in an active call center can eat up a ton of space quickly.

3970
Ah!!! I see now, this is on a 3300 controller and NOT a 5000 controller, that is a completely different animal and belongs in a different area... The 5000 area is for the Mitel 5000 CP controller, not specifically specific lines of phones. I will move this to the 3300 discussion area and hopefully you can get the assistance you need.

3971
If you are sure this is a 5000 and not a 3300 then it sounds like you are doing a CONFERENCE, not a transfer (the 3300 can do it this way)... You cannot just drop out of conference and leave the other parties connected, if you are doing a transfer you should not be able to get all three in the call the same time...

It should go like this:

Well on the first call, the agent presses TRANSFER, then 8+<number>, when the other party answers they can announce the call and then hang up and the initial party should be talking to the destination. At this time the Unsupervised CO system timer kicks ina nd will drop the call when it expires. At no time should be agent, caller, and destination be able to all talk at the same time.

3972
This sounds like pre-MCD software... Changing it in the Telephone Directory is irrelevant and it needs to be changed in either Station Service Attributes or User and Device Attributes (probably the latter), it is towards the top of the device section.

3973
The IP settings are irrelevant to the extension number, once a phone is registered with the Mitel 3300 it's MAC address is associates with that extension number. You will either need to go into that via ESM and clear the MAC address from the extension or do a an IP Set Replacement via FAC and replace the current MAC address with another phone.

Verify the volume is turned up on the phone, a half-ring followed by silence is a typical indication the ringer is turned off. Also, verify Headset mode is turned off, you will likely have to program a button for that as well. If all that fails, consider replacing the set.
