Tried it quick on lab system... setup a Information Mailbox and recorded a greeting in it and you get get a canned prompt after the mailbox greeting of "You may enter another extension now, for assistance press 0, to end this call simply hang-up..." then after a timeout it goes to the regular "root" day or night AA greeting.

I have done this on the SX200, same VM so using the RAD should work...

There is a very simple answer to this as well, if you have an open ONS port, buy a $10 answering machine that can make an announcement, put it on a ONS port, record message in answering machine, then ring trunks to answering machine! Minimal setup and cost, very few steps... only drawback is volume handling.

My quick and dirty fix without looking at the root cause would be to setup a Programmed Reboot nightly, just set it up to go off at like 3:00am.

Pretty sure an announcement mailbox will return the caller to the main auto attendant after the message is played. Best bet here for those specific requirements is to make a RAD, then route the calls to the RAD during the period needed.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but thought I'd share a work-around we have put in place.

We have configured an extension to route through to the IQ and play a message then terminate.
The message is simply 45 seconds long with a beep to start and a beep at the end.

We have programmed a key for the extension so when agents make an outbound call they can hang up and then hit the speedcall, 45 seconds later once the message has been played the agent will then be available again.

I know this will tie up ports however we're currently looking to use this on a small scale and monitor usage / abuse
Nice! I like it!!!

The other thing that just popped into my mind was a patch cord issue, either at the switch or phone end... pretty sure that is where I have seen this before!

Had forgotten about this for some time, but I know it ties to a COS option, but not really sure beyond that... I have asked other techs a couple times and just got shrugs or blank stares and always forget to ask when I call into tech support from something else. You could make an online ticket on it through Tech Central Tracker and just ask, I find questions like this are best answered this way when the answer isn't needed right away.

Do you have other phones of the same model working on this system, if so it sounds like either a DHCP error (or incompatibility in DHCP options with the current firmware in the phone) or a bad phone... Try putting it Teleworker Mode and see if it will force load firmware, sometimes I have seen this work. Weird that it gets to the PIN prompt, then fails after that, my money would be on a bad phone though.

Mitel Jobs and Mitel Careers / Re: Mitel Tech Job in Bismarck, ND

We are still looking for a qualified Mitel tech in Bismarck, ND... Anybody?

Reset and Shutdown are two different menu items, and their exact location (number of clicks of the buttons) can vary slightly with software release... Basically the procedure is the same, from the front console of the 5000 press the button to activate the menu, arrow down once til the display shows System, press the center button, then arrow down until either Shutdown or Reboot is shown in the display and press center button, Yes/No prompt will come up, press up/down buttons until YES is shown and press the center button again and wait.

It might important to note the reason this is here... if you just pull the plug, any database changes not commited via "Backup Database Save" that were done since the last system self-maintenance routine or controlled reboot will all be lost. I have programmed a complete system more than once, had a fellow tech come in and say something like "Can you move over here, I need that space for ...", so I just unplug the system and move it to the another bench... and then start reprogramming again because I hadn't backed up, done a Backup Database Save, or a controlled reboot or shutdown and my system is back to default because I forgot to do one one little step! Otherwise, there is really no issue with just pulling the power on a 5000, I have done it hundreds of times with no issues.

LOL... ralph, I think he means four DN's or four phones, not 4DN sets!

Yes, armstr_a, you would do it exactly like that... Put the 4 phones into the new "Record-A-Call User" COS and program buttons on them and away you go.

The 3300 can do Voicemail to Email, it is pretty easy of your email server supports unauthenticated SMTP Relay on Port 25, just go into System Options and set the IP address of the mail server, go into VM Networking and build the local element, then go to the mailbox and turn it on and put in the recipients email address... I am glossing the setup process over a lot, but it is fairly simple and again is spelled out in the embedded help step-by-step.

Do you have a second button programmed on the phone in the 3300 with another appearance of the prime DN? It is necessary to allow the phone to establish 2 calls simultaneously. This is typically done by programming Button 2 as a Multicall Appearance of the main extension of the phone.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: System Speed Dials
« on: July 03, 2012, 04:13:44 PM »
Sounds like they need an upgrade to an analogue phone with freely programmable speed dial buttons.

So you program the phone not the actual system with the speed dial you require.
LOL... very true, one of the 5000's few drawbacks! Of course, a Polycom SIP phone would work here too.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: System Alarm Notification
« on: July 03, 2012, 04:11:18 PM »
That's not what the help files seem to suggest:

System Flag - Broadcast Alarms To All Administrators

This is located in System\Flags.

Determine whether system alarms will display on all administrator phones (set to "yes"). If not, they will display only at the primary attendant’s phone (set to "no"). In the default state, this is set to yes.
Hmmm... this is news to me but it appears to be what the OP was looking for. I was unaware of this flag and have just told umpteen dozen customers that was just how it works, looks like I am incorrect and am going to have to eat my words here. Will test when I can and report the result, unless someone can get to it before me.

Dedicated ports? Why not allow the VM ports or a select number of VM ports to reside in both hunt groups? I have done this with no problems...
