Mitel Software Applications / Re: NuPoint Voice Mail to Email At Godaddy
« on: September 28, 2012, 09:17:50 AM »
Do you have a stand-alone Nupoint, or is it part of MAS? But either way, Nupoint resides on a Mitel Standard Linux box which can be it's own transport agent.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Intertel Conference Bridge Help
« on: September 28, 2012, 09:14:54 AM »
I'm sorry, I don't understand this problem. What is supplying your conference bridge, the 5000 itself? Conferences are not scheduled per se... Why do you think you can't have conferences in 2013? Also, not sure what you mean by "root" password, there is an installer level password for the phone system but it is defined by the installer at time of installation, there is no real default password.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Mediatrix 4402 on 3300 ICP

We use the Multi-Tech MultiVOIP line of SIP gateways with the 3300, had very good luck with them, although I will be honest and say we have never used them for faxing. On our hosted side of the house (Broadsoft SIP server), they use Audiocodes MP-112/114/118 gateways with really good success! We tried using the Grandstream HT-502 for fax applications but had hit and miss luck with them, if I was going to fax I would definitely go Audiocodes.

Attached is Mitel's latest SIP interop guide, you will notice few SIP Gateways that have been certified to work for faxing (T.38) with the 3300, Audiocodes being one of them. Hope it helps!

Is the physical connection dropping? Meaning, do the ethernet status lights go out, or do they show connectivity still exists?

Some things I have had to do with weird issues:

1) Set the switch port the 3300 is connected to 100 or 1000 full duplex, then set the LAN port in the controller the same (do not use Auto Mode)
2) Verify that any VLAN tagging is being done at the switch level and not at the 3300 (if possible), or verify that the correct Voice and Data VLAN are configured in the 3300
3) Replace the patch cord to the 3300 with a new, pre-molded on (NEVER use a home made patch cord to the 3300)
4) Change switch ports that the 3300 is connected to
5) Although this doesn't seem relevant, database corruption can cause very unusual issues sometimes. Do a full backup of the system and then a restore or even a re-installation of system software (full backup, manual re-install, apply licensing, restore)

I have also seen a controller with a bad ethernet chipset, causing weird issues... but replacing the chassis (if you don't have a spare one) is a last resort.

Oh, and you could also do a wireshark capture of a port mirrored to the port that is connected to the 3300 and break the packets down and see of there is reason the traffic isn't flowing anymore, you might find an incorrect VLAN tag, IP address, or who knows what.

Does the 5000 have the ability to print to an IP port like the 3300?

Ralph
Nope... it requires some special handshaking to take place, that is why very few CCA software packages support the 5000, it requires a non-standard way of retrieving them from the controller.

You can always just open any tab with Call Traffic (SMDR) and click the tools button and select "Start logging to file", as long as it is running it will keep dumping call records to a file.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: DSP Failure
« on: September 07, 2012, 06:00:13 PM »
DSP Failure is usually related to the DSP/DSPII Modules installed on the main board MCC slots or T1/E1 Combo Card, there is no soft reset or "load" command available for them to my knowledge. Best bet is to do a backup and then, assuming the system is functional right now, schedule a reset at like 2am or something... It will come back and work just fine, it's a Mitel!!! :)

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Inter-Tel 8602 for MAC systems?
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:55:37 PM »
Is it possible to install and use softphone on Mac using Wine http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/#part-0 ?
The answer is a definite maybe  ;D

It is worth a shot to try it, there are also other emulators available but I am not a Mac guy at all. There are also compatibility issues with Windows 7 and .NET and in a 64-bit environment it is a 50/50 shot, I have read stuff where people have had to install hacked older versions of .NET that are only in Chinese and had to guess all the click though prompts to get it to install... so if you are going to run an emulator make sure it is a Windows XP emulator and not Win7.

Mitel is going more and more to SIP-based applications for everything but Mitel branded phones, so I doubt you will see a true stand-alone softphone by Mitel again unless it is a re-branded SIP phone, like UCX or something.

You should also consider UnifiedCommunicatorExpress, it has a softphone that uses that uses a SIP device license in the 5000, more information and a 10-day free trial can be found at http://unifiedcommunicatorexpress.com/, again though, it is for the PC and not MAC but it might be more emulator or VM friendly than the 8602.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Mitel 3300 LX
« on: September 06, 2012, 11:07:14 PM »
Hello! I am currently doing my internship and the company has a central inoperative Mitel 3300 lx. Apparently it's because it takes a gateway to communicate with the E1 trunks. But apart from that we do not know anything more, the version of your software is 8.0.7.16_2. I would like to know which operating system works, that supports other protocols for interoperability, if I can connect with the call manager through a SIP trunk and also let me know if you need mitel phones buy a license to operate ... I would greatly appreciate your help ...
Google Translation, not real good, but not bad... I cannot reply in Spanish, perhaps someone else can but I will work with the above translation... In the future I would recommend posting in English if possible as most users here use that language natively but I am sure there are some spanish speaking techs here as well.

Will the system boot? Do you know the IP address and can you log into the web console? You should be able to get in and poke around in the menus and find the licensing and stuff to see what you can do with it. The system runs a proprietary operating system and it is not open, the Mitel phones run in a proprietary MiNet protocol but the system does support SIP devices and trunks as well if properly licensed.

I am not sure about a "gateway" (maybe messed up in translation by Google) but an E1 trunk works over either a card in the main chassis or an NSU cabinet that connects via a proprietary CIM connector, an E1 trunk is a digital, TDM trunk and the system would need the appropriate hardware.

The 3300 is not a system to be taken lightly, but if I understand correctly this system is not in service, so knock yourself out... for the most part the "manual" is the embedded help in the system, so getting the system up and able log into it is probably the key starting point here.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 3300 CX 10/100 LAN port
« on: September 06, 2012, 07:53:13 AM »
I have problems with the 10/100 LAN port on my 3300 CX controller. Without any cable plugged into the 10/100 port the two LED lights on that port are remain solid "on", and I could not access to the Controller by IP phone nor PC. The port seems dead, anyone has the same experience or know why, faulty 10/100 LAN port?
I have seen this twice, once on a CX and and the other on one of the MX variants... a simple power cycle reboot fixed one and it hasn't recurred in a couple years, the other one reboot had no effect, controller had to be replaced.

So, power cycle, if that doesn't help replace the controller.

I just thought I'd share it:

The only alternative I know of on the Mac would be a SIP-based softphone, such as Bria by CounterPath (but there are lots of other choices). This would also require a recent release of software in the 5000 and an appropriate license.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Re: Adding the Console to a Pickup Group
« on: August 31, 2012, 09:25:24 AM »
Are you sure you are talking about a 5000? It doesn't have "Pickup Groups" or Consoles, the "console" on the 5000 is just a software package that integrates phone features into the PC.

If it is a 5000, all you do it put a DSS button for the "console" on the sets, then have them dial 4+<DSS button> to answer the call.
