Thanks for the info. I am going to schedule the procedure Monday evening when traffic is light.

Once the drives have been pulled, the sockets are cleared and the new drive is in slot 1, can I still access the system via IP?

If not how do I need to access the system to tell it to restore to the new drive?

(I built this system in 2017 when I was with the local ILEC, but I have only accessed via IP since).

I pulled drive 2 and put in my external case and it spins and reads just fine, which indicates to me that it is a working drive.

I read a KB article that says sometime sector errors in drive 1 can indicate drive 2 is dead when its not.

I also saw in the SATA Raid guide under rebuilding that if there are sector errors in drive 1, that can prevent a new drive in slot 2 from rebuilding.

This is a Public Service system that is used 24/7 so downtime has to be minimum.

I ordered three new matching model number drives from Newegg...So it looks like I need to (do as you said) shutdown, place new drive in slot 1, fire it up and restore to the new drive, then add drive 2?

About how long will this take, do you reckon?

If you mean system version, its 8.0 PR3 (14.0.0.127)

I have a RAID alarm on the 2nd disk and according to a knowledge base article I potentially need to check the 1st disk for sector faults...how do I do this?

from Mitel:

If the alarm occurs on the secondary drive, check
the primary drive for faults. (In some cases, the
primary drive has a sector error while the
secondary drive is fault free.)

(On the RAID array, the left light is blue, what appears to be a center light is not on and the right light is blue) I don't fully recall, but I was thinking that before when I had a bad drive that one of the LEDs was a different color.

Thanks, Jim

I discovered one of our 250g HDD is bad in the SATA RAID (#2).

Four or five years ago I replaced one of them and at the time I was thinking that Mitel said the model numbers of the drives have to match, etc, so we ordered a matching model and I replaced the defective drive. I don't recall the particulars, like whether it auto mirrored, etc.

Looking about on forums it seems that possibly the model numbers don't have to match and we potentially could use a drive that is larger than 250g...however, in KB 06-5191-00213 it says:

Hard Drives Must Match in Size

Both hard drives in a redundant hard drive MXe Controller/MXe Server must be the same size. They can have different manufacturers, but the drive sizes must match. When comparing hard disk sizes, ensure that the accessible capacity of the drives is the same. For example, a 40 GB drive from one manufacturer could have a different accessible capacity than that of a 40 GB drive from another manufacturer.

Any guidance would be super helpful.

Mitel Software Applications / Re: MIR compatible with MiVB 8.0 PR3?
« on: June 05, 2023, 11:12:30 AM »
There is a compatibility matrix on Mitel Miaccess Portal.  That being said it shows its not applicable.  However you have to run an SRC via an MBG so I would think as long as your MBG version is compatible with MIR it should work.  I even have Oaisys working with MiVB 10 because I have an SRC decoding audio for it.

Thanks!

Mitel Software Applications / MIR compatible with MiVB 8.0 PR3?

We are looking at getting MIR for station recording on our MiVB and I was wondering if the latest release is compatible with MiVB 8.0 PR# release system?

Mitel Software Applications / MIR online install training?
« on: June 02, 2023, 09:21:43 AM »
3 years ago I retired from our local ILEC, and as a Mitel partner, I stayed up on my Mitel training, as it seemed there was always new releases to train on to keep current.

Now I work for a County Government as the end user and we are looking at getting MIR to work with our MiVB 8.0 and I was wondering if Mitel offers online installation and configuration training that we could purchase and sign up for, as we are installing it on one our in-house Hyper V servers.

I've poked around in the learning center but all I see is training relating to MIR after installation.

"When you log into the admin box do you not here the admin options after pressing the * key?"...

Sorry for the delay in replying...

After I log into admin MB and press * I then get the option to administer templates, user call flows and line group call flows...that's all.

Sounds like you have a conflict in your dialing patterns...

Where would be the 1st place to start looking for the conflict?

Jim

DG TRACE in Maintenance Commands would be a start. If 123 is one of your speed calls that requires a # to complete, I'd do a "DGT TRACE 1231" up to 1239 to see what those 4 digit numbers are, then go from there.

OK, thanks for the tips!

I did find a conflict (fairly obvious once I thought about it...)

Oh OK...I've done that in the past on different system.

Thanks

I have made loop back analog extensions to trunk port for this in the past, might be an option as to how to route this number

Sounds interesting...how does that work?

I figured it out...

The transfer delay was only for transfers to CDE speedcall 3 digit numbers.

When I added a # to end of the digits, the delay went away.
