We've opened a case with them; thanks for your help

Unfortunately I don't know when it actually crashed.  I reset it the morning of the 27th and again this morning, but it could have crashed any time in between there.

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Random phone system "crashes"
« on: September 29, 2014, 08:39:28 AM »
I have three 5000's and over the past few months, they've all crashed at least once.  The main 5000 has only crashed once, but even once is too much.  The two remote systems seem to have more problems and the crashing seems to be random.

Let me clarify "crash".  In this sense, crash means the phone system won't route calls.  The endpoints look normal and I'm able to connect to the 5000 via the Mitel software, but no one is able to make IC or outbound calls.

I'm running 6.0.11.95

Thanks for any help you can provide.

« on: September 29, 2014, 08:19:16 AM »
We're doing something like this with our setup.  We're recording ALL inbound calls to a specific number and letting employees manually record any outbound calls.  In reality, all inbound calls are recorded, but unless the inbound call is to a specific number (that forwards to a hunt group) the calls are deleted when they're disconnected.

We're using Tracer to record at the PRI level, but I'm told it should be available on SIP too (but the recording would only start when the call is answered, not when it's placed like PRI level recording)

Sorry I can't help you do it, but I do know it's possible.

Thank you for the detailed response.  I've edited my ports to reflect what you've posted. (I have SIP allowed, but only to four specific IP addresses)

This is what I had before

tcp/3998-4000, tcp/44000, tcp/5566, tcp/6800-6802, tcp/6880, udp/20001, udp/5004-5007, udp/6004-6261, udp/tftp

Upgrade worked great, thanks again

All we're doing on the outside is SIP (I have that under control) and a multitude of 5340 IP phones

Here's a quick background:

We followed the recommendations from our Mitel vendor when we first installed the system about two years ago.  It turns out that one of those recommendations was to allow SIP traffic (even though we weren't using SIP at the time) and we ended up getting hacked.   I have a bunch of ports still open (for teleworkers to connect) and I want to make sure I"m not opening myself up to too much.

Thank you...I will contact my vendor and have them pull it for me

Can someone link me to a list of ports that I should allow through my firewall?  I've found http://blog.denwa.uk.com/mitel-5000-firewall-ports-guide-setting-remote-phones/ but wasn't sure how accurate it is.

Thanks

MiVoice Office 250/Mitel 5000 / Hookflash Disallowed?
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:26:50 AM »
We completed an upgrade to 6.0.11.92 on our 5000 and one user who has the Mitel bluetooth headset is getting "hookflash disallowed" when he answers an incoming call.  The message is then followed by a busy signal after which the call is connected.

I assume this is probably a flag that got tripped, but I'm not sure which one.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Completely agree...waste of time to pull two separate runs and try and keep them separate.  As was mentioned, the phones are gigabit ready (if you get the right models) and you can use them to pass PC traffic as well.  Any new deployment needs to be VLAN'd anyway, so just tag your phone traffic with a specific VLAN and pass the rest to your desktop.

We sprung for CAT6a in our new building two years ago; yes it's a higher upfront cost, but I don't have to worry about bandwidth issues for a long long time.

I can change voicemail passwords by logging into the phone system web portal as a "normal" user.  Go to "My Account" and it's under "change passwords"  You'll have to set up web access for everyone, but that's just a one time thing.

Agreed.  I have dozens of 5340's working in this manner.

Open these ports in the firewall:  tcp/3998-4000, tcp/5566, tcp/6800-6802, tcp/6880, udp/20001, udp/5004-5007, udp/6004-6261

Program phone to do TFTP over port 69, and direct it to the public IP address for the ICP IP Address and TFTP server address.

Done
