Yeah that is really the only way to look at sip signalling as you can see the whole packet at lot of PBX try building this in but they only show certain items and in a summary way.

From my reading he was speaking of running it from the Mitel platform as he can run from the softphone platform. And yes I meant to say G729/T.38 but the OP was looking for G711 so the licenses are unneeded a dsp typically would not be needed either unless more resources are needed on the system.

168
Yes that is correct the point being Media Attribute is as you are seeing of Telephone-Event but does show type in wireshark as G711 ULaw.

169
Was a normal call to an itsp.

170
I also looked at a regular sip call since I do not have an asterisk box anymore and wireshark does show G.711 ULaw Media Type with 101 Media Attribute telephone event on 200 OK.

171
Compression licenses are only needed if you are doing T.38 and a few other things. It will use G711 by default. There is no way to wireshark on the Mitel but you could mirror the controller port in the switch to another port and capture that way.

172
I would have to do some digging but looking at your captures it is listing all options that it can talk for rtp the first one will take precedence ie U Law. I believe 200s don't show as they are events not audio traffic or an sdp. If you have RTP traffic it should show the codec being used. Is the problem no audio, call fails, or just curious?

173
I would have to setup a new box and get a capture but all the past captures I have looked at and seen the Mitel supports 711 and 729. As you said in order to use 729 you need to be in a different zone.

Swin - you need a decent box to host this there is a hardware matrix on edocs.mitel.com about the different vendors and equipment supported on top of that you would need either a 45 day trial of vMCD or a Licensed version. They pretty much support any Intel Nahalem processor and newer.

That is correct it was released as a fix in Hot Fix 4. I had it fixed early since I worked with the developers on it just was a heads up exactly as you stated rogue acd records because of time swap.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / SIP Music on Hold Issues
« on: June 14, 2011, 04:02:55 PM »
Just thought an fyi was in order as I have seen many users with this issue, when not receiving music on hold from the 3300 change avoid signalling hold to peer to yes I just fixed a set of trunks with this issue as the peer would not release the trunk from the hold state. Once I changed this then I also had music on hold again as well.

From a Mitel response I received the phone time is the least important of all system functions in turn it happens at the end of the processing cycle and sometimes not at all which is why you will typically see a drift sometimes even between sets. There are also some known bugs with the NTP service currently especially if using Prairiefyre software.

178
As far as double registration you would have to check with your peer most of them only allow siingle registrations or I should say a double registration overwrites the first one (ie register xlite as an extension it will overwrite the first one).

I have not seen this with Account codes but on regular call events. The fix was to be included in 5.8 hot fix 3.

Silly question but if a Mitel user puts another Mitel user on hold do they hear the music on hold?
