Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Enable International Dialing
« on: December 08, 2014, 05:11:21 PM »
Ended up being our carrier was blocking int dialing.  After they enabled it, all is well.

What's the proper way to lock down int. dialing only from certain extensions?

All of our phones have a COR Group of 1, which gives them LD dialing.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Enable International Dialing

I need to enable International Dialing for a few suits.

I setup 9011 with Unknown digits dialed in ARS Digits Dialed form.

I have it going to Route 1.   This is what all my other ARS Digits Dialed use.

Route 1 in the ARS Routes form points to COR Group Number 1.

When I dial the number, it says you need a long distance access code, then it switches over to our phone tree.

We don't use access codes.  I'm confused.  Any ideas?

Thanks. Adding the IP and Hunt Group in the "External Visual VM" form now lets me log in from the phone now.

However, it still isn't saving my password.  How do I not input my password each time I hit the voicemail button on my 5330e?

Thanks!!

Have a fairly new Mitel 3300 and NuPoint voicemail server.

On my Mitel 5330e phone, I go to SETTINGS -> Voicemail.  I can't login.  It says "Could not login because the server is not configured".

I've checked the COS on both the 3300 and NuPoint and can't find an option for this.  I want my phone to save my voicemail password when I check my messages.

Any ideas?

I disabled port 80 and 443 (Portal) on my external IP.  I did this by creating port forwarding rules under Security --> Port Forwarding for ports 80 and 443 to bogus destination IP's.  Works! :D

You cannot "port forward" or NAT translate anything to MBG, it must be in a TRUE DMZ or have it's own public IP address connected to the public internet.

It can be behind an external firewall with the ports opened (not forwarded) to it, but it just cannot be firewalled with NAT.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I enabled the external NIC and have my test unit working again.

I am trying to find where to disable the My UCA Portal.  Where do I find this at?  Everything under the Applications tab is disabled.

I shouldn't have spoken so soon.  Now the phone is saying "Waiting for ACK..."

Hopefully just missing a port.  What a PITA.

Thanks guys.

I went in and deleted the external NIC (logged into command and reconfig'd server).

I setup port forwarding in my firewall to the MAS and got teleworker to work.  I feel much better going this route.

Our MAS was installed with two NICs, one internal and one external.  It's in the Server-Gateway config.  Teleworker works fine, but I'm now concerned with the security of the built in Linux firewall.  I see there are other options where you can put the MBG on a different server in the DMZ, which is way better in my opinion.

Are there firewall settings for the MAS?  I can't find anything.  I can ping my external IP, which I'd like to disable.  I can also access the 'My Unified Communications' portal from the Internet, which I don't want.

Thanks a lot, that did it.

What's the correct way to add another line on a 5330e?  I want to be able to put someone on hold, hit a button and call someone.

Going to take a stab after reading a bit...

1. ARS Digits Dialed = Add Digits Dialed "900" with 7 digitsl to follow.  Route 15.
2. ARS Routes = Route 15 points to nothing.

This is a great thread.  I've been in IT for over 12 years and now is the first time I've had to manage a phone system (3300).   Going to look at the suggestions in Ralph's article.  Never considered PBX security and thsi was never brought up by our vendor.

Embarrassing question... How do I block extension 900 in our 3300 MXe-III?

The System Speed Call did the trick.  I'm not onsite to see what it looks like on the phone, so not sure if I can tell which number they are calling.  Guessing it shows up as my primary extension.

Add the DID as a system speed call that dials your true extension

Are you using a MAS server?

Will give that a try.  Will I be able to tell if someone is calling on the primary extension or the DID?

Yes,  using a MAS server.
