The way I have segregated the networks before in places such as hotels is the phone network on its own vlan then the wan port with default gateway being on the local lan for management and internet access. I would of course highly recommend the subnet being available on the lan and I would question the client as some of them are afraid of voip since they do not understand it.

Almost always 1 way audio is a routing issue but if what you are telling us its true and the did works then it isnt a routing issue. I would also suggest to get a captureof the calls. I would also suggest the network analyzer tool that is on mbg to be run. After all that I would then look at suppress use of ccm before isdn progress on the ip trunks our make sure they are both homed to the same controller.

As do I but there has already been a major change is the PSTN infrastructure of moving away from the MDFs with a DMS that will fill 3 houses down to ip based systems that fill one standard rack. You will not get rid of on premise copper for a long time but that is where the ata comes into play. I think 2018 is optimistic but hey first flying car is hitting the road 11 years late so maybe 2029 is what they meant.

You would have to do a wireshark of what is going on but to get them to pass thru MBG all you need to do is enable the SIP protocol in MBG and then pass them to the ICP where they are configured as a Generic SIP Device.

You would need to get the firmware from a VAR with MOL access and then setup a tftp server to load it to the phone.

It will all transition into sip based switching so any means of internet would be the demarc. A rlec that I know has already made a huge transition that way and I am assuming most are as the increased flexibilty and the amount of savings to be gained. There is still a lot of copper infrastructure especially in rural areas but you will see dsl modems and atas to replace standard demarcs in those locations until the miles of copper are replaced with fiber, ethernet services, or cable service.

Question is also what model sets. Could be multiple things on the network such as under powered switch, cabling, set nic, and icmp redirects these are just a few of the many things.

If you use a mib browser you should be able to explore the mibs and find the one you need.

Non-Mitel Chatter / Re: Responsibilities for PBX Backups

We of course backup when onsite and at maintenance check time. Opsman auto back ups if they still have the server otherwise we encourage them to include it in their backup routine after all it is a server.

I think what Ralph meant to say is press # to view network settings and others till you come to tools and features then * then # again until restore system defaults. It is different as it will reset all phone varibles such as brightness and everything.

Say good bye tech credits.

I would make note of the remote settings and factory default the phone then put the settings back in. I have seen this and defaulting routers fix some remote quirks.

This is typically due to a signalling issue a session timer is there to break it when all else fails typically these are set very high on the carrier as they expect you to tear them down with proper signalling. I have seen this before and it depends on the exact signal issue wireshark is your friend.
