Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 5300 series 802.1x pc port pass through
« on: November 26, 2021, 05:17:29 PM »
long shot but hopefully someone is around that is familiar
Struggling with 802.1x port security working on clients connecting to pc port on my 5320e/5330e/5340e ip phones.
I had to setup 802.1x for mac security with MD5 since that seems like the only option. it works.
If I plug the PC direct into switch instead of back of phone it works with EAP-TLS so individually they both work correctly, its just when I plug a another device into the phone Pc port that it doesn't seem to pass through and automatically allows any device to connect to network because the phone was authorized. Mitel is all like hop on my back and ride right into the network boys!
I see the 68xx series has options for this, i'm sure the 69xx series do as well. Problem is, we don't have those models!
Is there a newer firmware that supports 802.1x pass through the pc port? my phone version is at 06.05.00.28
Do the 6900 series support eap-tls? Manual says the wireless add on does but the Ethernet is only md5 or peap
In the end this could be a switch problem but it is supposed to support multiple connections and I can authenticate the pc through the phone it
