Mitel SX200, SX2000, and older SX platforms / Auto Attendant & speed dial extension

We have two propertied connected by a T1. To reach property B from property A you dial 7 plus the extension #, 7888. When calling in from the outside you cannot dial the 4 digit # to reach property B. Both properties have SX-200-ICP controllers.
I created a extension at property A, 501.
I created a speed dial sc888 to dial 7888.
I set ext 501 to forward always to sc888.
I can dial 501 from an internal extension in property A and it will connect to the extension 888 at property B.
When calling from an outside number, the Auto Attendant at property A states you can enter the desired extension any time. When I enter 501 the call dials but returns to the Auto Attendant menu.
What setting is missing?
