SIP On Mitel / New SIP install with audio issues
« on: March 08, 2024, 09:38:39 AM »
Hi All,

Running into a strange issue with hopes of finding some answers here.....

We've recently migrated to SIP with our Mitel system and throughout the day, incoming and outgoing calls with just lose audio.
Example, a customer calls in, hears ringing, when our receptionist picks up, the caller just hears dead air. Receptionist see caller ID, phone rings, but just dead air and neither one of them can hear each other.

Now that strange part.....80% of the day, audio works fine..calls function normal.

Intermittently, we will lose audio.

It appears to maybe be a port issue on the firewall because when audio stops working, I temporarily open all UDP ports, and things go back to normal.
This is driving me insane because ports just don't close on their own and the intermittent audio drop outs occur at no specific times throughout the day.
Could audio be jumping ports? port 5060 are open both ways, which i am told handles audio.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Mitel 6940 Bluetooth Connection
« on: April 27, 2021, 08:59:04 AM »
We have a number of 6940 phones with the bluetooth handset connection. On a couple of these phones, the users are saying that the phone connection gets very choppy with just being a few feet from the base. Cuts in and cuts out as if there is an issue with the bluetooth connection. I have tried to "forget" the handset and re-establish the bluetooth connection, but same issue.

Anyone have similar issues? Fixes?

Following this one.....

Yes, we too are still working remotely. I completely agree that not all homes are setup for hardwired phones.
I, for example, bought a 100ft Ethernet cable to fun from my router in the basement, way up to the 2nd floor office space.
Not ideal is most circumstances.
I am a network guy, but keeping my router in the basement is still the best option for me at this time.

I briefly looked into the wireless adapters for our 6940 IP phones, but the cost, at least at the time, was too high for our requirements.

Now, seeing that we may still be home for the remainder of the year, have been asked again to look into the wireless adapters.
I would love to know if anyone has had experience with these and can give some feedback.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Nupoint automated attendant recording
« on: September 23, 2020, 08:41:29 AM »
Managers got together and had a professional voice company record an auto attendent menu into a .WAV file.
This menu points out the "press #1 for Sales, etc"

We currently have an auto attendant menu recorded by an employee who simply recorded using her phone.

Does the Nupoint system allow me to upload a wav file to be used at the auto attendance menu recording?

Mitel Software Applications / Nupoint VM Call Details
« on: June 22, 2020, 02:09:23 PM »
Our Nupoint system sends all voicemails to our Outlook mailboxes. Our Nupoint currently only sends recorded voicemail as attachment. Is there a way to force Nupoint to also include caller ID (phone number, etc) in the body of an email for example?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: Adding Teleworker Licenses

Yes, my apologies. They would get added to the MBG. Not adding users, just enabling our current users to work remotely via teleworker license.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Adding Teleworker Licenses
« on: April 13, 2020, 11:32:59 AM »
Hello all! Hope you are all staying safe.
We need to add more teleworker licenses to our environment.
I am going to contact our vendor to purchase more licenses, but how do I add the additional licenses to the 3300?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / MiCollab Video Conferencing MBG
« on: April 09, 2020, 12:03:32 PM »
Setting up video conferencing for our external users. On the Internal LAN, video conferencing works fine. For our external users coming in through the MBG, it does not work. I have verified that all necessary firewall ports are open. Is there something else I need to look at to get video conferencing working for our external users?

SIP On Mitel / Re: MiCollab 8 Remotely
« on: April 09, 2020, 11:51:32 AM »
are you using a VPN to access the office MiCollab server? No MBG in your setup? If you have MBG, just take your office phone home (that's what we did) and program it as a teleworker.

Ultimately, this is what we ended up doing. Made some configurations on the MBG so we could take our phones home. After a few more firewall port issues, we eventually got the phones to work remotely. Not the easiest setup because many users arent close to their routers or ethernet jack to make a hardwired connection.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Caller ID database
« on: March 19, 2020, 08:17:33 AM »
Wondering if there is some sort of way to change the caller ID once the call hits our PBX.

example: many customers call us using their cell phones. our 6940 will show "wireless caller" as the caller ID, which is not very helpful to our sales team.

Is there a place in the programming where I can add the number and name so that instead of "wireless caller" the 3300 will know it is "Customer ABC"?

In Call Settings, I have "prompt" and "deskphone". I am assuming the softphone functionality is not configured then?

I can click on it, but the "Softphone" option is greyed out.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Bulk or Group Calling
« on: March 18, 2020, 09:07:33 AM »
On a MiV Business 3300 controller. In the event that an emergency occurs, I am wondering if I can setup a calling plan that would dial out to 10-12 cell phone numbers at the same time to deliver a custom voice announcement.
This would be the same as when the schools call each parent with regards to snow days, etc.
As I am fairly new to this system, where would I go to program such an task?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: MOH on radio station
« on: March 18, 2020, 08:57:06 AM »
Technically, this is illegal in the US but many business do it. Years ago it was common to contact the radio station and get a letter stating you had permission to do it, but my understanding is that doesn't work anymore.

But why would you want to? Most of modern broadcast radio is 10-20 minutes per hour of advertising, so you could potentially be playing your competition's commercials to your customers while on hold... Just as one example.

You are best off to use a licensed MOH source, a custom made MOH source tailored to your business, or simple instrumental music

Thank you, I will peruse the custom made MOH route.
