My Mitel tech made a change yesterday which broke all outbound calling over our ESI SIP trunk.  He was trying to get SIP calls going over our MBG virtual server, I believe.  Every phone gets "Access Denied."  He reverted the changes but nothing has worked.

He created a ticket with ESI but we've been down almost 48hrs.  Inbound works fine.  He's doing packet captures with no luck.

Any ideas what could be going on or what I should look into on our 3300?

Thanks, that helps.  I'll talk with my vendor to have a few things fixed and change this.  Our desk is 24/7, so won't be a problem.  Thanx!

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / ACD logging out after missed call
« on: August 30, 2023, 11:25:42 PM »
We upgraded from 5330e to 6940 phones at our front desk.  3300 controlle.  Now they use Hot Desk logins instead of ACD, from what I understand.

The issue is if they miss a call, the phone logs them out now.  My vendor says they can't have a login button, so they must enter in the Hot Desk extension and password every time once they realize they're logged out and not taking calls.  It's frustrating.

1. Is there a way to keep the phone from logging out, only put the phone into Make Busy if they miss a phone call?
2. Is there a way to create a Hot Desk Login button so they don't have to enter in the ext/pass every time?

Thanx.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / SMDR not logging paging
« on: May 23, 2023, 12:06:24 PM »
Should be an easy fix.... I don't get any data on SDMR output when someone does a page (dials 66) over the PA systems.

Is this a COS setting?  Not finding anything.

This is frustrating!  I can have two people on hold but when I hit the Conference soft key to bring them together, I get the dial tone.  I can't get 2 other phones to conference in with my IP 6000.

I've tried messing with the Line Settings and all that.

Could someone please point me which setting I need to change to get this to work?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Best conference phone for on-prem 3300?
« on: November 29, 2022, 04:31:50 PM »
I was about to purchase a refurbished PolyCom IP 7000 but realized it needs to sit directly on the Mitel VLAN, since it can't understand the VLAN tagging from the DHCP server.

I'd like a PoE conf phone that also has an open port for laptops to connect to.

What's the best IP conference phone to use?

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Name for a extension
« on: September 14, 2022, 02:50:29 AM »
I have an extension, let's say x6000 that is our IT Help Desk.  I assign this extension as a Multicall button to everyone's phone in IT.  So, if you dial x6000, it rings on all the IT phones.

My issue, when you dial x6000, it doesn't say on your phone who you are dialing.  I want it to say "IT Help Desk" when you call x6000 from a desk phone.

Is there a place to set this?

All,  I have found a fix for this issue that works 100% of the time.  I too thought the spring was getting weak and was re-bending it to get the phones to be able to go off hook but the problem continued to come back.  I have even had to RMA phones back to the manufacturer over this issue till we found out what was causing the problem.

To fix this issue and it also works for buttons that are not reliable anymore as well.  You must take the main circuit board off of the phone exposing the button pads.  Just tilt the board to the side so you don't have to disconnect the speaker.  Next you have to clean the little metal cups at the bottom of each button including the hook flash button with a Q-Tip and some alcohol.  I also clean the contacts on the circuit board where the buttons press with the Q-Tip as well.  Then reassemble the phone and all of your buttons will work like new again and the handset hook will also work properly.

This issue is caused by corrosion in the contact and when I was tensioning the spring it was causing the button to press harder which continued to make the contact till the corrosion got too much for an electrical contact to be made to answer the phone.  By cleaning the contacts it puts the phone back to a brand new state and the electrical contacts work properly.

Key note, don't over clean the rubber membrane too much because I believe they may have an electrically conductive material on them and don't want to wash away too much of it.

You sir, are a freakn' genius.  Tried it on only one phone but it WORKED!  THANKS!

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / Re: 3300 - Kari's Law
« on: September 17, 2019, 12:39:17 PM »
Thank you so much!  This gives me an idea on how to have my next conversation with them.

Here's some info on it:
https://www.govtech.com/em/next-gen-911/Getting-Through-to-911-Will-Become-Easier-Thanks-to-Karis-Law-.html

The law says that anyone installing, managing or operating multi-line telephone systems may not install manage or operate such a system unless it is configured such that the user can directly initiate a 911 call. This applies to anyone installing, manufacturing, first selling or leasing two years after the date of enactment of the act.

"There is also an onsite notification requirement in the law, Fletcher said, so that if someone in a hotel calls 911, someone onsite is notified of this and can prepare for the arrival of paramedics, an easy fix on a PBX system, he said."

Any idea how that's done in the 3300?

Currently using a PRI.  We have a block of 100 DIDs for office phones, but wouldn't mind buying 200 more for hotel rooms if that's what is needed.

Running 8.0 SP3 PR1.  Active Software Load 14.0.3.22.

Mitel MiVoice Business/MCD/3300 / 3300 - Kari's Law
« on: September 16, 2019, 03:37:03 PM »
My Mitel rep wants to move us to a cloud based POS system, mainly because of Kari's 911 law.  We have 70 existing hotel rooms and will be adding another 100 in 24 months.

The 3300 works great and I have no desire to change over 200 phones and deal with my analog phones/alarms/etc I still have out there.

Surely there is a way with my 3300 to allow 911 dispatch to know which hotel room called 911?  Right now you can dial "911" and get to the operator, no 9911 required.

Am I missing something?  I also was under the impression that Kari's law applies to new hotels, not existing ones?

Thanks for the feedback!

Don't know, maybe it was a bad batch.  Phones were built in 2013, installed early 2014.  Half of the 5330e were bluetooth handsets.  We had probably 10 or so regular handsets fail, no one could hear you.

What issues are you having with the 6920?  I have two and haven't seen any issues, yet.  One's at my desk even.  I have two 6940s and it's my favorite so far.  Can buy them online for $265, pretty good value.  My dealer wanted over $420! lol

The 6930 doesn't come with a bluetooth handset, right?  Seems like it's better to go to the 6940 if you want wireless handset.  I'll pull the trigger and buy about 20 of them once I figure out if I want 6930 or 6940.

We are seeing almost all of the springs that control the HOOK button fail on our 5320e and 5330e phones.  I can't believe Mitel designed it this way, this is not acceptable.

Even if we take apart the phones and readjust the little metal spring, it works for a while and fails again.

Does anyone have a permanent solution to fix this?  I don't want to buy new 69xx phones just yet.

Mitel SX200, SX2000, and older SX platforms / Re: SX-50 Question....
« on: December 21, 2014, 04:26:29 PM »
Thank you.  Does it support a T1 card or does it just take analog lines?  I believe it has 8 analog lines going to a trunk card.  I haven't even taken the cover off, really want nothing to do with it lol.

Mitel SX200, SX2000, and older SX platforms / SX-50 Question....
« on: December 21, 2014, 09:57:14 AM »
Here it goes.....

My Mitel rep says he hasn't touched a SX-50 in at least 10 years, so couldn't really help me.  One of our hotels has a SX-50 in it, works just fine.  I'm trying to see if it can accept a PRI card.  Trying to reduce costs for our circuits.  I'm fairly sure it doesn't support a PRI card, but just need confirmation from someone.  Could someone please tell me?

Thanks.
