If you enable OLM view, expand System Information, you can increase the Page Zones in Meta Database. Not sure what the ramifications are in doing so, but if it's hidden, usually there's a good reason.

That's what I figured. Appreciate the response. I'll have to have sales reorder a Valcom or something, if it's even needed at all. Customer was just looking to page all phones...set that up instead.

Hey all,

Installing a new 5000 HX for a customer and sales ordered a 5485 IP Paging Unit. I know how to set it up on an MCD just fine, but I've never seen this unit used on a 5000 and I can't find documentation anywhere saying it's supported. Will a 5485 IP Paging Unit work on a 5000?

Thanks for the reply. From your description, it sounds like you reimage the PS-1 each time? Why don't you use the TFTP via web gui?

No one's upgraded a PS-1?

Hello folks!

I'm tasked with upgrading a 5k to the latest release and while this wouldn't give me a second thought normally, I'm left second guessing procedures in the installation doc because this particular customer has a PS-1 and I've never upgraded one before... According to the install doc, it says to upgrade the base server (chassis 5000 HX) via TFTP, once complete, repeat TFTP upgrade for processing server (PS-1). My worry is that once the base server is upgraded, the PS-1 will lose connectivity because of software mismatch or something and I won't be able to get into it to upgrade it. Am I thinking too much into it? Is it as easy as upgrading base server via TFTP, then upgrade PS-1 via TFTP and the connection between base server and processing server never goes down?

Could be that the phone's System Forwarding is set to No Answer/Busy to another extension.

System > Devices and Feature Codes > Phones > (ext #) > System Forwarding Path
Note the number

Go to System > Phone Related Information > System Forwarding Path
See where the path goes

Might be as simple as changing that value. Otherwise, you could see if the phone is forwarded by going into On-Line Monitor and go into the phone's Forwarding Information. (Would advise against going into OLM if you aren't familiar with 5000s though).

In the Flags, Handsfree On/Off is set to Yes and Ring Intercom Always On/Off is set to No. Make Handsfree - No, Ring Intercom - Yes.

or

If you have a Forwarding Path on that phone, likely Voicemail, double click the path and set the FWD Type - IC to Yes. Right now, it's set to No.

Doing either of the options will make the call ring at the phone instead of going over the speaker automatically.

The mailbox the user is associated with has Remote Messaging enabled. Log into the DB and navigate to Voice Processor > Devices > Mailboxes > (Mailbox#) > Remote Messaging - No.

Thanks Ralph, your method worked wonderfully. Just got done testing with the customer for all the sites. You, sir, are a genius!

Those are actions that can be taken when the timer is met on those conditions. Annoucement and Overflow are used for playback messages during the ringback process. So caller gets a message instead of just ringing for what seems like forever. Recall is used to divert the call away from the hunt group. Adjust the timers accordingly. I mostly only use the Recall to direct the hunt group call to a specific mailbox.

Yes, you can use the same Extension List in more than one hunt group. Just know that there is a limit to how many phones can ring simultaneously before slowing down the system. From the help:

Adding a large extension list can result in slowing down system performance. Adding an Extension List that contains more than 60 members may cause a system slowdown because when the list is called, ALL members of the list are called at the same time.
When using an extension list for ring-in or hunt groups, do not exceed 30 phones per list. The system can send ring signal to up to 30 phones.

Yeah, was applied to XNET trunks.

Your solution seems to be geared toward outbound calls, no? or would that incoming call somehow refer to ARS? I'm a bit confused...mostly a 5000 tech so this whole 3300 steps to get anything working is a bit frustrating...

Hey Folks!

Background info: Customer with 5 sites, MCDs clustered and a single Nupoint at the main location that has Call Director Mailboxes for each site's respective AAs. Analog lines at each site (boo, i know).

Issue: Remote site will lose internet, basically killing connection to main location's Nupoint that answers calls for all locations. When that happens, callers are getting busy tone.

Is there a way to route the call to the receptionist of a "down" location when that location's link to Nupoint is down?
I've tried creating a phantom and pointing the calls to that phantom with calls rerouted first alt to Nupoint call director and second alt to reception, but it doesn't failover. I've tried using the Intercept Handling form to send calls on Trunk Out Of Service to reception and that didn't work either (long shot at best, since trunk isn't really down).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm grasping at straws at this point and Mitel hasn't been the most helpful.

Or create a Call Routing Announcement in Voice Processors > Devices > Applications, delete the Day / Night Greetings, and set the Timeout action to Transfer to Mailbox - (Mailbox #). Point your DID to the CRA and you're done.
