We have a user that would like to have a softphone on his PC and Android mobile that are active at the same time but the licencing only allows 1 to be active at a time - does anyone have any ideas how I could set it up so there are 2 softphones working together?
We're running MiCollab 7.3.0.204 and the user has a premium licence.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks

I might consider making a personal ring group with all of his extensions. He would still technically have two softphone extensions but in every status where the softphones are active, both are set to ring.

Is it possible to assign 2 extensions with a single MiCollab extension or would I need another one?

Jeremy,
There can be only [1] Prime DN, but you can have up to 8 devices associated with it and [2] of those can be softphones. The way Mitel suggests setting up extra phones is the following.
Primary: 1000
Secondary: 1*000
Tertiary: 10*00
Quaternary: 100*0
Quinary: 1000*
After that I am not sure how they would progress, but I have also seen *1000 for some phones in previous databases. Once they are created they would all go into a Multi-Device User Group or Personal Ring Group Depending on licensing I believe.
In the MiCollab just go under the Phones tab and add a Secondary and Tertiary phones and then make sure they are in a Ring Group together so if they dial the Primary DN it will ring any of the phones that are not set to Absent.
Thanks,
TE

Thanks for the reply, the issue I've got is that he can only log into one soft phone at a time. When he logs in from his phone it logs his PC out and vice versa.
On the user setup it only allows one soft phone extension as attached.

Jeremy,
You would need a second license to have two separate softphones with two separate DNs up and running at the same time. If it won't let you put a second softphone extension under the original MiCollab account then I would setup the second softphone under its own record in MiCollab, but then you would need to go into the MCD and put the second softphone under the users MDUG or Personal Ring Group.
Thanks,
TE

Correct me if I am wrong, but is it not the case that you can only have one concurrent MiCollab login at a time, and therefore only one softphone?
-
With the Premium licence you get a PC and mobile login but you can only activate the soft phone on one of them.

I've never played with the Mobile client - about to do so right now....

you could add a minet softphone and use it on the pc client

the use of two softphones at the same time is not really the intended design. a MiNET softphone on the desktop is possible but with the new PC client that doesn't work anymore.
I've used two separate softphones (different numbers) in a MDUG. one softphone is assigned to the softphone field and the other the deskphone field under the MiCollab setting. Seems to work but it sure is not a supported method
