I have a nightly, scheduled backup on a 3300 that shows it is running since 5/2/2017 (two weeks). All other nightly backups since 5/2 have failed stating that only one backup can run at a time. I'm unable to cancel the "running" backup via the scheduler window. I can run a backup manually. Is there a maintenance command that would allow me to cancel the bad backup so regularly scheduled backups can resume?

I suspect that you're going to need to reboot.

Maybe it is not directly related to this, but we had an issue with backups scheduled to 3:00 a.m., the backup was failing occasionally. The reason was that some internal process that was checking voicemail was also scheduled to 3:00 a.m. and locks the DB. Solution was to reschedule the backup.
To what time is your backup scheduled?
-
My backup is scheduled at 11:30 PM. I have another physical 3300 and a vMCD that do backups at the same time as well. Nothing scheduled on the same 3300 for the same time though. These have been scheduled this way for almost 3 years.

Do you have a nightly DBMS CHECK scheduled?
-
It's not listed in the scheduler, but the Maintenance Log shows a DBMS CHECK completed every day at 5:02 AM. "00 database error(s) detected. 00 form(s) could not be accessed."
