I'm likely making this harder than it needs to be but...
An assistant needs to answer call ringing on the boss's phone as well as see when the boss is on a call/busy.
With a DSS key the assistant can see when the boss is on the phone. Setting it to ring or ring continuous allows the assistant to be alerted to a call for the boss BUT does not give any caller ID info for the incoming call
With a multicall key the assistant is alerted for an incoming call and receives caller ID info, but cannot see when the boss is on the phone
I'm looking for a solution that accomplishes everything...Assistant can see when boss is on the phone, is notified of incoming call for the boss, and receives Caller ID info for the incoming call
Like I said, I'm sure I'm making this harder than it needs to be but I just can't find the correct solution. Which is why I am turning to the Mitel Guru's on this forum!
Thank you in advance for any adivice

Maybe making the DSS key a "Secretarial" key might work? If not, put the phones in a ring group, or just add both a DSS and Multicall of the boss's DN.

lundah,
Thanks for the response. I looked at the secretarial option, but that looks like it just provides an easier transfer option.
All users are multi device users so I don't believe I can put them in a ring group. I did think about adding both the DSS and multi call keys, but was trying not to burn 2 keys if possible. It is an option though that I can present to the customer
Thanks!

Any reason not to go with a Key System key?

What advantage will the key system key give me over the other (2) types?
Thank you

What you want is exactly how all the EAs I've setup want things to work and the only solution was to give them both keys - The DSS key is labelled "Boss Busy" and the Multicall key is labelled "Boss Line".
Would love a single key to do both.

Worth looking at call screening as well?

I believe the Key System appearance will give Caller ID, but it cannot be used as a speed call so if that's a necessity you'll still need two keys.

Thank you all for the info. Looks like they will need to go with 2 keys
