Title: 5340 Exception Errors

Running serveral 5340's on MCD 4.1 CXI.... several of the phones are rebooting following these two exception errors.


1.

when does the phone do that?  After a xfer to it?

The customer didn't really say while I was there. The comments they did say was that while working at their computer (which is connected to the phones.) it popped up that error and reset itself.  The errors I got from the phones were from the diag menu/ insert options.

I've seen this happen when a call is transferred to the phone.  The phone reboots when the user answers.
Turns out this is a network problem.   Turn off ICMP redirects on your network and if that's the problem it will go away.
Note: do this even if the phones are on the same vlan as the controller and not being routed to any other network.
