Hi all,
During a failover the system switched to resilient mcd, how does one force things back (especially an E1) onto the primary mcd?

The phones will move back on their own when the connection is stable, based on a timer in the system (I don't remember which one, I can research and verify if you need to know). But I have never seen it take more than a few hours even in the largest installations.
The E1 trunks are controlled by carrier, they would have a timer set so that after the link comes back up the calls start flowing back over that link... If it doesn't switch back, you would need to contact the carrier, that part if outside of your direct control.

It won't failback automatically, otherwise you would have a second outage to active calls.
So you can plan the failback for a quiet time.
I believe the command is
EDT FORCE FAILBACK ALL
...but make sure you read up on it to make sure...

The phones should fail back automatically... the resilient controller will check the status of the primary on 60 second intervals after 5 good checks (by default) the phones are release back the primary ICP, this is set in System Properties, System Settings, Controller Registry, using the options:
Resiliency - Allow Return to Primary ICP (Yes/No) - yes
Resiliency - Secondary ICP Health Check Interval (seconds) - 60
Resiliency - Successful Health Checks Prior to Hand Off (1 - 20) - 5

We have 7.2 version and EDT FORCE FAILBACK ALL is on to run on schedule by default. I'm not sure if it was like this on the older versions.

Yes, mszodiac is right. The system is programed to run on schedule. If all the trunks are idle, it will failback. If not, he will try each minute for the next hour.
You can still force them manually with the EDT FORCE FAILBACK.
