Is the outgoing call display name configured on the 3300 or is that configured at the PRI provider. Our PRI says it's on the PBX and the company that supports our PBX says it's up to the carrier to display our company name.
Which is it?
Thanks,
Randy

It's my experience that it's the carrier that controls the name. Unless you see a name in caller ID that macthes what's in your telephone directory, then it's your carrier.
I've had this argument with carriers a few times. After a conf call it's always "Oh yeah! I guess we are providing the name."

Hello,
The outgoing call display name/number can be configured through the PBX - IMAT software. When configuring the NSU via IMAT, there are several rows to specify phone numbers and associated names.
We just use our main line as the outgoing number.

Hi Mike.
Thanks for the correction.

Ok, so my understanding of the Calling Party Name is different. I thought it was up to the recipient's carrier to do the lookup and present the name. The originating carrier links the name to the number from a database. What has never been clear to me is who/what/where these number to name databases are.
So yes, you can control the outbound caller ID number from the PBX - but telco controls the name. Assuming you are using PRI and I assume SIP would be the same.
Did that make any since?

There is an option in protocol assignment NI-2 name delivery if you are using a NI-2 PRI.

Dang it. I knew that. Just keep forgetting it.

V2Win - does that name pass all the way across carriers? I thought it was more for PBX integrations....
