Hi, suppose this is a pretty silly question, but why is there a small hole under the numpad of most Mitel phones? Picture enclosed. I tried pushing into it with a paper clip thinking it was a factory reset button, but i do not feel any button clicking by doing so. I can't find any info in the Mitel documentation. Anyone knows?

That's the microphone for when in speaker phone mode.
Might not work now that it's been attacked with a paperclip.

Thanks, hope I did not stab it too hard...

I happen to have a sacrificial 5330 here (intentionally broken display, unfortunately,) so I took it apart for my own purposes - mostly to figure out the mechanics of the buttons.
Anyway, I just took a closer look at the mic unit. It appears to be a piezo element, so the diaphragm is metal, not foil, as would be if it were an electret condenser. I poked a paper clip at it pretty good and there doesn't appear to be any damage, though for obvious reasons, I can't test it :) There's a cloth filter, too that you'd have needed to poke through as well. Pics available if needed.

Please go ahead and post the pics in this thread. I don't think anyone has posted pics of the guts of a 53XX phone here. It may be good to have them available.
