Title: Daylight Savings time
Post by: telcogirl on August 20, 2015, 11:13:06 AM
Regarding a digital 5000 system - is there somewhere in programming to set the time to automatically update for daylight savings?  If the controller has internet connectivity is there a way to have it poll a time server?  I work with customers in both scenarios.  Many thanks.

telcogirl,

Sure there is. There are two flags under the 5000 CP heading so just set both of them to yes. This is also where you can manually set the date/time; as long as Enable Network Time Protocol is set to No.
-Enable Daylight Savings: Yes
-Enable Network Time Protocol: Yes

You can also decide where you want to get your time from so you don't have to go out to the Internet. When you set Enable Network Time Protocol to yes it will ask a question just say yes and it will take you there.

Thanks,

TE

NTP works well. Just be sure to get your DNS settings correct, or use Google's 8.8.8.8.

Once NTP is setup, check the NTP log which will show you if it is successful.

Thanks.
