Title: Mitel 5485 IP Paging Unit - Mitel 5000 HX

Hey all,

Installing a new 5000 HX for a customer and sales ordered a 5485 IP Paging Unit. I know how to set it up on an MCD just fine, but I've never seen this unit used on a 5000 and I can't find documentation anywhere saying it's supported. Will a 5485 IP Paging Unit work on a 5000?

That is not a supported device for the Mitel 5000. The 5000 already has an external paging interface built into it, but if the paging interface is not near the system then you may want to look at some of the Viking or Valcom devices or use the speaker wires of a 5304.

The device you may or may not need sort of depends on the application and its interface and how the customer wants to use it with the 5000.

That's what I figured. Appreciate the response. I'll have to have sales reorder a Valcom or something, if it's even needed at all. Customer was just looking to page all phones...set that up instead.

It amazes me sometimes how a salesperson can hear, "I want xyz" and then sell something that has nothing to do with that.
