Title: Cannot backup Mitel 3300 ICP MCD 4.2

Guys,

I am trying to make a backup of a Mitel 3300 ICP.
The java is working fine. The buttons are not greyout. When i press the backup button the system takes alot of time before giving an error that the backup cannot be done.

Can someone give me advise how to resolve this problem

Check the maintenance logs to see why the backup is failing. If you have embedded VM enabled, a stuck VM port is a common problem.

To clear a stuck embedded VM port:

• Connect to RTC shell via RS-232 port on the front of the controller, or connect using puTTY in RAW mode to port 2002 of the RTC IP address.
• At the "->" prompt, issue "vmPortStatusInfo" (case sensitive), look for any ports that do not say "Waiting for call"
• In "Maintenance Commands", do "state 1 4 27" and "state 1 4 28", look for any ports that are busy. Busy/force those ports and RTS them.
• Issue "vmPortStatusInfo" again in RTC console, see if the stuck ports are now available
• If not, during a low traffic period, in the RTC shell issue "iPVMStop", wait for response, then issue "iPVMStart". If you do this during a high-traffic period, you could leave the embedded VM in a down and unrecoverable state and will have to reboot the controller.
• If none of this works, reboot the controller

Here's something I guess I don't know:
When doing a backup does it stop the embedded VM?  If yes, for how long?

I've never had a problem with it but at the same time I'm not sure if it stops it or not.

If you check the back up Call History and Voicemail boxes, then yes the embedded vm does go down during part of the back up process.

I had this error a few months back. I had a previous backup, so I just rebooted the controller in a maintenance window and it corrected itself.
