Title: MWI - Light just stops blinking
Post by: Hershel on June 11, 2015, 02:27:00 PM
Strange things happening on one of my newer installs.

If you leave a new message after a period of time the light will stop blinking.  I have personal observed this happening after 2- 3 hours without checking the message AND leaving a message for days.  Not sure if it is impacting all users but it definitely impacts more than one.

6.0 SP2

Mitel has asked me to upgrade to SP3 which I will be doing tomorrow but figured I would see if anyone else has heard of this.

Are you using Enhanced Integration, I have seen this cause issues with the message waiting light when Exchange does strange things or the email client...

They sort of have Enhanced Integration.   We are having some difficulties getting it worked out so 95% of the user it has been disabled and they are setup for forward & copy.

The users I have been able to confirm the MWI behavior do not have Enhanced Integration.

Additionally, if the user's MWI light goes out  and they execute a "Switch Keymap" the light comes back on.

Hmm... weird... I got nothin' then. Sorry.

I assume you have checked the avdap logs?

I actually haven't but Mitel did, although I am not sure they really knocked themselves out... seems like their first move is always upgrade to the latest version.

Hershel,

Do the users that are having the problem have a User Profile created?

Also is this a NuPoint or BUVM?

Do you think anyone is accidentally using the Message - Cancel Current feature?

Thanks,

TE

User Profile = Yes
BUVM
Cancel Current Feature = No, I setup an extension and have been able to replicate the MWI going out several times.  Doesn't appear to be a timer based thing as once it was under 3 hours and another took over a day.

Hershel,

My next step would be to check the avdap logs for the mailbox that I knew had the issue and verify when it was turned on and when it was turned off.

Thanks,

TE

Hello,

I have a similar problem with a Mitel 3300CXii I inherited.  The users say that by Monday, the MWI from any messages left over the weekend are often gone.  The users are on their phones all the time during the week, so it could be similar to what the OP is experiencing, ranging from 3 hrs. to 24 hrs.  We use Mitai signaling from the MAS unit.

Can anyone explain how to check the avdap logs for the phone?  I poked around the System Management tool for a long time, but couldn't find it.

Thanks.

jdfoxmicro,

You have a 3300 CXII which is not anything like the 5000, basically you are in the wrong part of the forums, and therefore you don't have Avdap logs.

Sorry,

TE

Thanks, TE. Makes sense. I did find the solution a while back, and I figure I'll post it here in case someone with a 3300 finds this by Google (as I did):  By default, there is a setting on the Mitel 3300 under System Options called SUPERSET Callback Message Cancel Timer, which is set to 24 hours.  This applies to all phones, and it cancels the MWI signal after 24 hours even if the messages haven’t been retrieved.  You can set it from 1-255.  If you set it to blank, the MWI will blink until messages are retrieved.
