I have recently added four 5610's to our system and all work well. Each is configured for our helpdesk staff as available in a personal ring group to their primary desk phone (5320). Again, all works well. I am trying to add the 5610's to a ring group which seems simple enough, but when I add the 4th one, it is not ringing. It appears that it matters not which 5610 is added last, it will not ring. Is there a limit on the number of these I can add to a ring group (seems that 3 is a very small number)?
Any help would be great!

In the 3300 I think the limit is 8.
But, there may be a different limit to the 5610 phones since they connect through a different controller.
It seems I remember that there was a limit to how many phones could be in use off of a specific base station.
I'm probably just flap'n on this one but perhaps it will serve as a tickler for someone who knows for sure.

The 8 is the number of phones allowed prt base station Ralph....could you have hit some kind of SIP limitation?

Although you can register up to eight handsets with an IP DECT stand, the stand only supports up to three simultaneous calls. If three calls are already in progress via the IP DECT stand, any other handset users who attempt to place a call will receive busy tone.

Thanks Johnp.
Sometimes I 'kinda' remember things but can't put my finger on it.

Interesting. So if I understand your thoughts correctly, the 4th phone will not ring, as the first 3 in the group are considered active when a new call comes into the ring group?
-
That would be potty if that were the case. What would the point be of having 8 phones registered if only 3 can ring?. Three calls I can understand due to rescourse limitations but....
-
I would check the destination for incoming calls programming in the base station settings.
-
I have the destinations set as follows:
Handset 1: Account 1
Handset 2: Account 2
Handset 3: Account 3
Handset 4: Account 4
Thoughts?

Well, it looks like its PRG only; Each handset can be programmed as a
separate extension on the MCD system or you can program the cordless handsets in a personal ring
group to allow a group of users to answer calls to the same extension number.
So try that instead of a ring group.

I am just going through this same scenario with Mitel support right now and they have not been able to give me an answer either. The documentation for the 5610 states that yes you can have a maximum of 8 handsets registered to 1 base but a maximum of 6 handsets ringing at 1 time.
I have confirmed that with 4 handsets on the 1 base and an extension for each of those handsets registered, that only handsets 1-3 will ever ring when all 4 extensions are in the same Ring Group using the Ring All method, even if you turn off handsets 1-3.
If you have the base configured for inbound calls as:
Handset 1: Account 1
Handset 2: Account 2
Handset 3: Account 3
Handset 4: Account 3
Then you can get 4 handsets ringing. I have not been able to establish if it is the 5610 base that doesn't want to ring the 4 handsets for the 4 extensions of if it is an MCD limitation. I suspect it is the 5610 base that has the limitation for no more than 3 simultaneous unique calls being processed at 1 time.

Did some more testing last night and I can confirm that the 5610 base is rejecting the calls to the 4th extension when you try to ring 4 handsets on their own extensions at the same time.
The 5610 base is replying to the 3300/MCD with "SIP/2.0 486 Busy Here".
Mitel are investigating this further for me so I will hopefully have definitive response for those that are interested.

Mitel have now done their own in-house testing and confirmed that the 5610 base can only do ringing for 3 concurrent calls at a time and that it is regardless of the handsets being turned off or on, because it is based on registration.
They are now going back to the 3rd party that makes the 5610s for Mitel to get a confirmation from them that this is by design.

With respect to the 5610 SIP ***WONDERFUL*** devices, I have found that 8 total devices can be connected to 1 (one) base, but only 3 (three) can be put to use/function at any given time. To accomodate for more than 3 working, either ringing or talking, or whatnot... you must purchase additional bases, and configure them for the (more than 3rd) phones.
I think that this product has much room for improvement in the near future. :)

Just had final confirmation from Mitel support who took the issue back to the manufacturer (RTL). If each phone is using its own SIP extension then you can only have a maximum of 3 handsets ringing at the same time. If you use the built in ring groups feature on the 5610 base you can get 1-3 extensions ringing a maximum of 6 handsets at the same time i.e. 1 extension ringing 1 group of 6 handsets or 2 extensions ringing 2 groups of 3 handsets etc.
This means we will probably not be using this product going forward. :(
