Title: UPS and 3300 CX II
Post by: Microfiche on April 01, 2015, 12:26:34 PM
We are experiencing power outages about once every few months at our office, and I need to get a better plan for the phone system in place.
We have a 3300CX II with 15 - 5312s and 2 - 5324s, with an HP 2520-24-PoE switch, and our MAS server is running on a Dell R210 rack mounted server.
I am trying to determine how much power the 3300 and the PoE switch will draw, and also how I can gracefully shut them down and restart in the event of a power outage.
Is there a way to interface a Smart-UPS to the 3300 (and the MAS server) to shut it down?
We were not supplied a UPS when our system was installed.

APC has a way of selecting the devices and figuring out how much time you can get out of it.
Check it out here:  www.apc.com/tools/ups_selector/US/en/server/device (http://www.apc.com/tools/ups_selector/US/en/server/device)

Thanks, but it seems to be using the power supply size to determine the power draw, and not sure how it is doing the PoE switch and accounting for powering the phones.
In any case, it is saying I would get <10 minutes out of a 1500VA UPS, when I know I am getting about 20 minutes from a 620.

What about graceful shutdowns - do they matter for these boxes? Can they interface with a UPS to shut down this way?
