Title: Continuous ringing
Post by: mm937 on March 05, 2015, 04:14:42 PM
We have a Mitel 3000 system.  While on "Night Service" or "Forward All Calls to Voice Mail," callers have the option of dialing an extension, it they choose not to, calls are dumped into the general voice mail box.  The problem seems to be that if they hang up before the message is complete, the incoming lines ring back continually until somebody arrives in the morning.  We have often arrived to have 3 lines ringing like this, but nobody is on the line (Caller ID still indicates the incoming phone call).  How do I change it so that the system ends the call?

I suspect that you have analog lines rather than SIP or a PRI.
The problem is that your trunks are not disconnecting properly.
This may be simply a timer issue.

Here's a test.
Call someone and have them hang up.  See how long it take for the call to clear off of your phone.
I suspect that it won't.
From there, edit the circ descriptor of the trunk and start lower it's disconnect values.

You are correct, it did not clear off.  Thank you!  I'm on the phone with Mediacom to fix that. :)
