Title: Issues backing up 3300 from IE
Post by: ralph on February 20, 2015, 10:14:31 AM
3300 version 6.0 SP1
IE version 9 and 11

I just realized that I can no longer backup a 3300 with IE.
I know I can do this with Firefox but I need to be sure IE works for my customers that don't have IE.

Compatibility mode didn't make a difference.
Tried two computers.  One with IE 9 and another with IE 11.

This was working.

Any idea what the fix is?

Ralph

Hi ralph,

Backup using IE version 11 on MCD 3300 SP2 worked for me.  Just tried two systems today.
Maybe the fix is to upgrade to SP2.

MCD 6.0 no longer needs or uses Java for backups and the odds are that its a java problem.
I have a windows XP virtual machine That I use for older backups that are needed or use the software installer which uses FTP. Its a bit longer but either method works.

meant to say the virtual machine uses ie.8 and is not allowed to upgrade either the browser or the java

Ralph,

I'm sure you have probably tried this but also try and clear your IE cache and add the site to trusted or intranet.

No, I didn't try to clear the cache.   One was a brand new computer.
I did put the system in the trusted sites and turned off popup blocker.
Everything else seemed to work.

I found the magic combo was IE8 and the most recent version of Java SE 6. Though, that's because we are running v5 on the Mitel software, so we're behind the curve there.

Anything 6.0 and before, I have to use the IE8/Java6 combo listed above. 6.0 and newer release, I can use any IE version as long as I add to the compatibility view settings site.

as per post above, Anything 6.0 and above now uses HTTP transfer rather than Java so any supported browser will work. I've found it takes a bit longer but rock steady.

Only thing we need to make this work is "Disabling the POP-UP Blocker". This is what is have done to make this work.

I have IE 11 working to MCD6UR3 with the following settings tweaks:

Java 1.6_25 loaded, updates are disabled
IP address of MCD is added to Local Intranet site list in IE, "require HTTPS" is disabled
Security level for Intranet zone is set to "Low"
Pop-up blocker is off
Windows Firewall is off (if you can't turn it off, add exceptions for FTP on ports 20-21)

I don't know if all of these steps are required, but it's what works for me.
