Title: Best option for mobile phones?
Post by: cholzhauer on February 13, 2015, 09:20:35 AM
We currently have the old spectra-link system and it's starting to wear out; phones are failing and are getting harder to replace.  We have the "newer" system in use at another location (the one with the newer phone style) but that's worse than the original system.

What is everyone else using for mobile phones?  We have some employees using the Bria client on their cell phone, but it's hard to ask employees to use their personal phones for this.

Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Spectralink has not been good for us either, the handsets are bad especially the batteries.  Also its so expensive and clunky to setup.  Polycom do some new handsets called the 8450 which I have not tried but believe work.  They did have some older handsets which were tested on the 5000 something like the Polycom 8020.

Each Spectralink solution we had has now been replaced either by a softphone on smartphones (we use Groundwire) or we have looked at a SIP based Wi-Fi phones in the past (I cannot remember the exact names)

It all depends on what the customer wants to do and pay.

Cholzhauer,

We use the EnGenius wireless solutions which are designed to be hardy and work well in most applications.

Here is the website: http://www.engeniustech.com (http://www.engeniustech.com)

Thanks,

Might be worth looking into the new Mitel SIP DECT portfolio that came as part of the Aastra acquisition or possibly the mitel 5624?
