Title: New PRI at new location
Post by: jherlitz on November 11, 2014, 10:07:24 AM
I moved my controller from one city to another.  Same carrier, another PRI.  Based on a previous post I posted, asking what I needed to change, replies where I didn't need to change anything.  However, I am struggling to get my new PRI up and running.

A: Do I use a straight through cable from the card to the controller, or a cross over, neither seem to work.
B: Is there anything on the trunk settings that I need to change?

I am at a loss here now trying to get this up and running.

Thank you for any replies.

Where are you in the world?

What are the issues with the PRI? have you run diagnostics from maintenance commands?

Only thing you might need to change is the protocol...what was it and what is it now? i.e Uk will be isdn30e, US will be NI1 or 2 etc.

Straight cable here in the uk.

I change the digital descriptor to match one in our other offices now.  Only thing different is that it is LT instead of NT for termination.  With the crossover cable, I went from an alarm on the PRI card and red light on controller to no alarm on pri card and a blinking green light on the controller. So I am getting closer I think.

I have not run a diagnostics from maintenance commands yet, but I can try that.  As far as NI1 or 2, all my descriptors are set at NI1.  Don't think I should change that right now as my other two sites with same carrier are using the NI1.

Blinking green is no d channel sync IIRC.

Is this on a NSU or embedded PRI?

I got it up and working.

Cross over cable used
I changed the descriptor to LT instead of NT, that is when I got the green blinking light.  Here at this point my carrier had to turn up the D channels.  After that, it was up and running.

Lot of headaches for a little change.  But I am chalking this one up to a learning experience/opportunity.
