Title: Changing the phone display when a hunt group call rings
Post by: cholzhauer on November 06, 2014, 11:08:24 AM
Users are asking for some strange changes for hunt group calls.

One change they want to see is to add dashes to the phone number (eg, 888-888-8888 instead of 88888888).  The other change is they're used to seeing the caller's name as well as the number on the screen...now they're just seeing the number.  I've checked some flags and System>Devices>Flags> Display caller ID name and number is set to "yes"

I assume there are other flags I'm missing...can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Cholzhauer,

If they want to see the name and number at the same time then you would need to change a system flag [Display Caller ID Name and Number], but this is a system wide flag so it will do this for everyone. If you don't want to do that you can give them a FAC for Display Outside Party Name On/Off [Default: 379].

As for the number with the dashes is that for outbound calls?

Thanks,

TE

Hi TE

I already have that flag enabled that you mention (see my first post)

Nope, incoming calls to the hunt group

I assume they see caller ID name on top line, what exactly do they see on second line instead of caller ID number?  Maybe transient info display (XFR FROM, FWD FROM etc.)?  If so, the only way to see the second line is to eliminate the FWD or XFR step somehow.

Nope, the top line doesn't show the caller ID.

The number used to come in as 513-410-1670 OH    Now it comes in as 15134101670

Cholzhauer,

Let's start with the basics and work up from there.

1. Does your carrier provide CID Name and Number?
2. System > Flags > Display Caller ID Name and Number set to Yes.
3. System > Phone-Related Information > Flags > Expanded CO Call Information On Displays Yes for every phone.
4. System > Phone-Related Information > Flags > Outside Party Call Information Has Priority Yes for every phone.
5. System > Phone-Related Information > Flags > Propogated Original Caller ID on Transfer Yes for every phone.
6. Make sure that any answer points also have their Propogated Original Caller ID on Transfer set to Yes as well.

When a call comes into a phone you should get some transient information, unless you turned that off at some point, and then it will change to showing the Caller ID Name and Number IF you receive it.

Thanks,

TE

Hi

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. Nope...and appropriately, the phones/people that didn't complain were already listed here.
6.  I don't see that it's possible to add a hunt group or a STAR application here...does that matter?

Cholzhauer,

On number 6 you would go to those answer points to set that up since they are not phones.

What happens if they use the FAC for Display Outside Party Name (Default = 397)?

Thanks,

TE

No change on the 6 things we did before

I assume that's the same as setting the flag on their extension? If so, that's already set to "yes"

Here's a message I got from a user:

The last call ringing in read 1-812-858-54. Once I picked up the full number appeared, but no company name

Cholzhauer,

Did they have a timer below the number? Also have them try the code to see what happens.

Thanks,

TE

I'll check on the timer

When I entered that code on my phone, I was prompted to program a key

Cholzhauer,

Oops, I fat fingered that one 379 is the code. 397 as you found out is programmable key programming.

Sorry,

TE

No timer.

Dialing 379 gives "CO Party Name Off"

Cholzhauer,

Did you see the name prior to using that code? If not then you are not receiving CID Name with Number most likely.

Thanks,

TE

I don't think that's the case because caller ID works for everyone who's not in the hunt group.

Cholzhauer,

Ah, do calls go directly to the HG? If they do send them to a CRA that uses 5 seconds of silence prior to sending them on to the HG at Timeout. There is sometimes an issue with getting Caller ID before going to the HG; this may be your issue so let's give that a try.

Thanks,

TE

The DID points to a STAR that points to a CRA that points to a hunt group.

Currently it's only set for one second of silence...do you think increasing it to five would help?

Cholzhauer,

I wouldn't hurt to try as you can always take any recordings out without effecting your call flow.

Thanks,

TE
