Title: Transition from Hardware to vMCD with PRI
Post by: bluewhite4 on November 03, 2014, 04:56:22 PM
Has anyone transitioned a customer from a physical MCD to a vMCD, while keeping a traditional PRI, and bringing it into the new vMCD via SIP? If so, what equipment did you use for the PRI to SIP handoff?

If you keep the PRI, you need to keep the old controller as a Telco Gateway for the vMCD. If they go to SIP, the carrier would deliver a new circuit/router, and the PRI services would be ported to the new SIP services.

Normally, I would agree with you 619Tech, but we have several cost based factors that we're trying to work around for the customer, so neither of those are options at this time.

Thus we were looking for a "have our cake and eat it too" solution.

I would think an Adtran 908(e) could do the PRI to SIP conversion also.

That was the piece of equipment we were considering. Have you done it before though? And if so, any caveats we should be aware of?

I haven't done this, but I did propose this as a solution in a recent bid where the customer wanted virtualization and was currently doing trunk side recording.

Further, I do have a customer using an Adtran for T.38 site to site faxing.
