I need to create a new hunt group and I think I understand the process, but can I use an already existing Extension List for my member list?
I have an existing extension list that includes all the branch phones (I want all phones listed in the hunt group).
Can I just use this list or do I need to create a new extension list?
My goal is to have a special DID number associated with this hunt group. When someone cals this DID number, I want all phones in the branch to ring. We are using this as an emergency branch contact number.

Yes, you can use the same Extension List in more than one hunt group. Just know that there is a limit to how many phones can ring simultaneously before slowing down the system. From the help:
Adding a large extension list can result in slowing down system performance. Adding an Extension List that contains more than 60 members may cause a system slowdown because when the list is called, ALL members of the list are called at the same time.
When using an extension list for ring-in or hunt groups, do not exceed 30 phones per list. The system can send ring signal to up to 30 phones.

That is good to know. That is a small branch with only 4 phones.
Thanks!

Exactly right. Create a hunt group, use the ext list as the only member, point the DID to the group. You already know about ANNOUNCEMENT, OVERFLOW and RECALL?

No.....

No.....
I just checked and none of my other hunt groups have these populated. They all say NONE. These were setup by the provider.

Those are actions that can be taken when the timer is met on those conditions. Annoucement and Overflow are used for playback messages during the ringback process. So caller gets a message instead of just ringing for what seems like forever. Recall is used to divert the call away from the hunt group. Adjust the timers accordingly. I mostly only use the Recall to direct the hunt group call to a specific mailbox.

Thank you for the explanations!

FYI - You can point a DID straight to a P-list of extensions, in the Call Routing Tables. I prefer using Hunt Groups as mentioned above. Not only do you get the ability to use msgs (annc1/ovrflw) & VM out (recall) for callers, you can also label the Hunt Group and members can manually put themselves in/out of HG as needed.

Somethings off...
I have the hunt group. I have the ext list.
I added the HG ext to the DID number.
Only 1 ext rings. It rings 2 times on the first ext in the list then goes into voice mail.

Dan231,
I hate to ask, but what type of extension list did you create and did you put that extension list as the only member of the Hunt Group?
Thanks,
TE

I first used the already existing list, which included all the phones (only 4). It is an IP/Digital Telephone list.
I then tried creating a new IP/Digital Telephone list with the same results.
And yes to the only member of the hunt group

Check the HUNT GROUP REMOVE/REPLACE station flag, should be REPLACE for all. And HG SHOULD NOT be an ACD hunt group.
-
It is not an ACD group.
Where do I find those flags?

Found it - they are all on replace

Gee, I think we're in troubleshooting mode now. What happens if you remove the ringing phone from the list? Others still don't ring? only next one rings?
Was the ringing phone first in the ext list? Does behavior change if you move it to last?
No phones are in DND, forwarded or using Dynamic Extension, right?
-
Dan231,
Try recreating your Extension list as a Hunt Group Extension List and use that P# as your member. Also, verify that the extensions that are not ringing are not manually forwarded, in DND, or have their ringer shut off [Default =398, 0]; anything other than 0 is a ring tone.
Thanks,
TE

still testing this....
I still only get 1 phone that rings. I created the Hunt Group Ext List and now it's a different ext that rings, but neither one was the first phone in the list.
I am being told, there is no DND or forwards on any of the phones.

got it now.. not sure what I did differently, but it's working properly.
