Hello,
I have a phantom extension programmed to appear at ext. 232, when I called it, I have to press the phantom extension key to answer the call. Is there a way I can program it so that when I pickup the handset it will answers the calls that is ringing at the appearance of the phantom extension?
Thanks

You have to program calls to actually ring your extension, not just appear. A hunt group with an extension list would work.
-
Or do a manual forward from phantom to your extension. you can do a manual fwd by dialing 359 (remote programming), <phantom ext>, <phantom ext># (pass), 355 (call fwd feature code), your ext.

I too have used the hunt group method a couple of times.
put a ring group with two members in it (the phantom and your extension) into the hunt group.
when your extension rings, only your key flashes - pick up answer the call
when the hunt group rings, both your key and the phantom key flash - pick up - answer the call
easy to tell what number was dialed.

Right now, if the phantom extension rings, it key does flash but I have to press the key to answer. Is there a way I set it so that as soon as I pickup the handset, it will answer the call automatically?
Thanks

Johnlowe,
Do you have the key set up as a Secondary Extension? If so then pressing the key is the only way to answer it. You may want to look at a different solution to meet your requirement of auto answer.
Thanks,

Tech Electronics,
My customer currently have their old pbx programmed as key system. I am trying to program the 5000 as a key system, so I created a HG with few members (phantom ext.) and these members are programmed as Secondary extension at reception phone, when the phantom ext. rings, it flash on the phone and I have to select the key to answer the call. Is there another way to program the 5000 as key system and it will auto answer when lift handset?
Thanks

Just add the phone to the hunt group, using an extension list.
-
If I add the phone to the extension list, what will happen to the 2nd/3rd incoming call? Do I still have to select the key to answer it?
-
It will be the same as any other call ringing on your phone. The only difference is the secondary key for the phantom will also flash.
This is beause you are now answering a hunt group call, not picking up a secondary appearance.

johnlowe,
Yes you can make it a Key System with a little bit of work. I will be able to go into more detail later in the day on how to set that up if someone else doesn't do it for me.
To make a long story short you need make their hold a system hold and then program the trunks on their buttons so they can press them and get dial tone. There are a few more options to setup, but that is the gist of it.
Thanks,
