Title: IP trunking Interop
Post by: Mattmayn on December 14, 2009, 08:46:37 AM
Has anyone ever set up IP trunks to an AT&T Definity PBX? I am working with another Vendor that says that their Mitel techs have done this before but that is all of the info I can get. I assume if I set up IP trunks like you would to go to a 200 then it should work (QSIG features only). Any thoughts on this?

Are you sure that it is IP trunks and not SIP?

They claim IP, I do not know yet. I have licensing for both on my 3300. The tech I am dealing with doesn't work on "much new stuff" and is past retirement so I am not too sure which it will be.

It's going to have to be SIP trunks.   IP trunking is Mitel to Mitel only.
If Avaya is like the Nortel, it may do H323 too, but you're only going to be able to talk SIP.

Ouch, can be challenging working with "old phone techs" - no offence Ralph!  In theory you can SIP trunk to anything so I'd bet that is what they are talking about.  Does the 3300 do H.323?
