Title: How does the phone power supply work?
Post by: dan231 on August 13, 2014, 09:42:02 AM
I am looking to use a 5330e power supply.  I found them, but I'm not clear on how these connect to the phone.
I'm used to a power supply that just plugs into the phone itself.  These do not look like that.

From memory, they're just glorified PoE injectors. Expensive too.  One line goes from the injector to the phone, the other to your LAN.  Plug in the wallwart to give it 48V DC.

Personally, I use PoE switches or use a cheap injector when needed.

This'll be temporary while we get a larger more port PoE switch in place.

Just by cheap Power over Ethernet injectors online for short term use, TP-Link makes some you can get for about $12-$13 online, TL-POE10 or something like that, or go off brand, eBay has some under $5
