Title: US Ring tone when calls put through STAR
Post by: IPInstaller on August 04, 2014, 11:49:02 AM
We have many customers complaining of the US ring tone generated by putting a call through a STAR.

Does anyone know a way of changing this to a UK ringing tone?

Many thanks.

IPInstaller,

If you are talking about calls ringing the STAR then just change it to Silence or whichever MOH source you have. Other than that the ring cadence and type is set when you pick which country the system is for.

I am sure one of the system files handles that, but since that doesn't affect the users in the US I have never looked into it.

Thanks,

TE

Hi TE.

The only solution I have found is to buy an MOH licence and upload a wav file of ringing tone. Then change the associated devices etc to play this when a call is ringing at it.

A bit of a work around but a fix.

If only Mitel could think a bit more Internationally!

Many thanks.

IPInstaller,

Do you know if that ring tone exists, is used, elsewhere within the 5000? It may be just a matter of modifying the right system file to have the correct ringtone.

I don't pretend to understand, but why does the ring tone/cadence make a difference to people calling in?

Thanks,

TE

Because customers are nit-picking bags of insanity...thought you'd have realized that by now, TE.

I have raised this with Mitel 3rd Line in the past. It's because the STAR answers the call and transfers it elsewhere the system thinks of the call as an internal call so it gives the outside caller the internal ring back, not the BT standard.

As mentioned the only work around is buying a second MOH license and using that. It's stupid and for this reason I try ans avoid STAR's when possible.

I had this the other day, changed a company back to manual Night and Day mode from a STAR as apparently "callers think the line is engaged"
