What is the proper way to remove a user?
Is this done from the web GUI or the programming?
Also, what if I want to remove a user and mailbox, but keep the phone extension live?
If I delete a user form the web GUI, it gives me options for user only or user, phone, and mailbox.
If I delete the phone, will that phone no longer be available for calling to?

I would do it from DB programming.
If you delete the phone the phone configured for that extn will cease to work.
Deleting a user will kill the mobile twinning web portal etc.
Deleting a mailbox will kill the users VM.
-
Ok, by that logic...I can delete the user and mailbox and that leaves a functioning phone.
Thanks!

That's what I do Dan. I delete all except the endpoint (Placeholder). I always delete the MB, then rebulid after naming the endpoint with new username, so that my new user will get the tutorial and my VM directory does not get corrupted. You may need an Extension ID for the placeholder endpoint if you need to XFR to it via AA until new user is assigned.

Dan231,
A key point to remember when deleting mailboxes is to also remove the forwarding path that sends the calls to the voicemail system when its conditions are met.
Thanks,
TE

You guys are killing me ;)
This seems like a pretty complicated system. I'm used to Cisco Call Manager (last job) It seemed a bit more straight forward.
Where is this forwarding path?

System > Devices & Feature Codes > Phones > (Ext#) > Forwarding Paths
It really is a very easy system once you get the hang of where everything is. Just gotta play around.

Thanks!
So would it be a safe assumption to say that when I do create a new mailbox, the forwarding path is created with it?
-
dan231,
No, if you plan on having another mailbox added on to it then either keep the current forwarding path in place or you have to recreate it when you do finally put another mailbox on it.
Thanks,
TE
