We decided to replace our external answering service with the Auto attendant and got this programmed to allow:
ring groups,
dial by name directory or
directly the 4 number extension.
We also created a daytime and a night time menu message.
We also programmed the business open and closed times.
I am now looking for a solution that switches the attendant automatic from day to night mode without any operator involvement as the reception/operator desk is unmanned.
I can use the reception phone to switch in Day (simply turning on DND does that) or night mode by using the **51 option but looking for an automated solution that based on the business open/close times does automatic

Depends on your software level. later ones have scheduling for this stuff and most have programmed service under maintenance commands. Thats for switching the system to night service BTw

Agreed the newer ( around MCD 5 I think ) allows the scheduling of night service.

If you have an older system and are using the embedded VM for the auto attendant, the Business Hours Config form will let you set the schedule. You can also set the schedule using the TUI from the administrator's mailbox, but I find the Business Hours Config form much less cumbersome.

Thanks for the feedback.
It looks like I have 50% fixed, as in the evening the 3300 switches into Night mode correctly without having to press the button.
It does however not switch back to the day mode in the morning and we need to manually perfrom this step.
Will check the business schedule again and see if I missed something.

Do you need to schedule an event to go from night to day?
