Per the docs, the MSL server has the ability to backup to a SFTP server.
Has anyone been able to make this work?
I'm able to log into my server via WinSCP just fine but the system wont backup to it.
Are there any tricks to it?

We have this working on our ftp/sftp server, and have have MSL and MCD customers auto-backing up to it.
We ended up using freeFTPd, http://www.freesshd.com/ (http://www.freesshd.com/), to do it and it works fairly well for us.

I'm using a Ubuntu server so that one won't work.
It's working well for my MCD systems but I haven't been able to make it work on the MSL servers and SFTP

I wonder if since MSL requires the SFTP, could it be something with the certificate of the SFTP server? (Really just guessing on that one.)

That's a good question.
I know that WinSCP requested it.
I don't see a facility to set it up the server.
Perhaps I have to purchase a cert for it.

Ralph,
Just came up against this one myself.
Sounds like we are trying to do the same thing.
Trouble shooting so far:
MBG can backup to MAS
MAS can backup to MBG
MBG or MAS will not backup to off site ftp/SFTP server.
Putty to the MBG ran a SFTP user@IPaddress and logged in successfully
Took a TCP dump form the MBG. The only traffic that was seen to the external SFTP server was a ping!
Looks like it does a test to see if the IP is alive first. Can you ping your SFTP from the MSL you are trying to backup?
I am unable to continue because my router needs a reboot to allow pings from the internet. Lots of Teleworkers hanging off it.
Hope this helps

Ok now my MBG can ping the external SFTP server it backups up to it just fine.
