Yes. In Voice Processor > Devices > Applications you should have created an app for Voice Mail (Type Will be Voice Mail). Use this as the Xfer to VM button. In Key Assignments the Value should be PKM/DSS Key and the Selection should be the application number.

I will test this first thing tomorrow.
Do I have to create the voice mail app first?  Or is that a system default?

Thank you!

The voicemail app should be built already... in newer systems if you used the configuration wizard by default it is x2500, although it could be anything. There can only be once Voicemail app, and if you have voicemail then, well, you have the application build already.

All you need to do is but a DSS key on your phone for Voicemail (x2500 or whatever it is), then to transfer to VM press the Voicemail DSS key, followed by the extension number or DSS key of the extension you want the call to go to and hang up.

Does this apply to incoming calls?

Example 1:
I am in a meeting.  My phone rings.  I press the xfer to vm button.

Example 2:
I am on the phone and a call comes in.  Can I do the same thing or will I just have to wait until the 3-4 rings before vm picks up on its own?

Thanks!

No... It only works on the active call to send to a specific mailbox.

OK, do I have any options for what I want to accomplish then other than buying new phones?

Am I correct in assuming you are looking for an manual "ignore" or "forward call" feature? Basically to reject a call and send it immediately to the voicemail box of the phone your using?

To my knowledge the 5000 cannot do this manually. You can change the forward path settings per phone to send the call to voicemail on a busy condition though, but it will effect all calls.

Yes, that is what I want to do.

Our rep told us the 5340 & 5360 model phones will work, but you are suggesting the system may not even be capable of this?

We run a Mitel 5000 HX v5.1 DB with the Inter-tel digital phones, 8560's and they have the option on the screen for currently ringing calls. We also have building running the IP phones and aslong as it is a 6 line display phone you have the option on calls currently ringing the phone. The 53XX and all the proper 'Mitel' brand phones have a large display from what I see but I have never programmed the buttons so I can't help you setup your current phones but I can confirm it is within the capacity of the 5000 to forward inbound calls to VM. I feel you just need to find the proper program key and how to add it to the large display of the 53XX's during an incoming call.

I just did some tests and essentially, while incoming call is ringing you can dial 'feature key' [looks like infinite symbol'] 311, at that point it asks where to forward the current call, you can press your program key for voicemail, or just dial the system's voicemail extension that users use to check their voicemail, at that point the call will be sent to that endpoints voicemail.

Let me know if any of this is unclear sorry my explanation is a bit haste.

Thank you
Kenny

The 5320 doesn't have that infinity button.

Good to know that the system can handle it though!

The Circle with X in is the equivalent of the Infinity button on the 5320 :)

The 5340, 5360 and 8568 will all have two soft keys that appear while a call is ringing.  One is SEND TO V-MAIL, one is SEND TO DEST, which allows you to divert calls to any ext you dial.  These can also be used while on a call when another call rings in.
Cool app using this: I created several CRAs for an executive and gave him buttons for each.  One says "I'm on a call, but I see you and will wrap it up quickly so I can talk to you, please hold".  Another says "I'm on a call and I expect to be a while, please leave a message and I'll call you back when I finish".  Now if he gets a second call he can hit the DEST soft key, then select what he wants his second caller to hear.

Just expanding on what Kenny has found, if you program a button on your 5320s as the REDIRECT code in my case it's 331.

You can press this during a ringing call and it will ask for a destination, enter 2500 if this is your VM app number and the call will go to Voicemail.

If you have enough buttons you could program a DSS/BLF button as 2500.

Call comes in, press the REDIRECT button, press the VMAIL button, call goes to VM in two button presses.

So

This works very nicely!
Not as easy as a 1-touch button, but should meet the task at hand.

Thank you everyone who helped.  ;D

I learn so much from this forum... I have been an Inter-Tel/Mitel tech since the Axxent days, and still learn new things or get my memory refreshed of things I had forgotten long ago all the time.

Thanks for reminding me of the Redirect feature, I haven't seen it used since the Axxess but have a customer I think can use it today.

And I totally stand corrected on my earlier post, of course there is a way!
