Title: Selective outbound caller ID witholding on SIP
Post by: Dogbreath on March 14, 2014, 11:52:15 AM
Using a SIP trunk, what would I put against "Calling Party Number" on an extension where I want to withhold it outbound? If I put something invalid in there, the service provider just replaces it with the main bearer number [which makes sense, I guess].

Scenario is, customer has about 50 extensions, the majority of which they would like to be withheld outbound, but about 5 or so where they really want it presented. Previous maintainer [and me too, TBH] couldn't work out how to withhold outbound CLI at all, so we turned it off at the provider end.

If you rin the UK does dialing 9 141 ........ work?
If so you could programme ARS with a route list. both route use same trunk but different digit mods. one digit mode delete 1 and insert 141

If u need more info just ask

If not in the UK,  :-[

141 is a BT network feature. We're not using BT.

The service provider supports three methods for withholding CLI:

- Anonymous in the FROM header
- Remote-Party-ID header with "Privacy = FULL" set
- P-Asserted-Identity: "privacy:id"

I'm sure I've used 141 on other carriers including my mobile.
If you've tried it and it doesn't work then lets think us something else.

Similar solution to the one i ready proposed but set up two sip peer profiles one which sets header to anonymous and one that doesn't
Use route list and COR to make the one set of handset dial out over one peer profile and other group over other peer profile.

again if you need more details just ask

Or have i missed the point and your saying you don't know how to send anonymous in header?

If you know how to send anonymous in a header [or any other compatible method], then great, because Mitel support tell me it's not possible. I don't know how to do it. Even in monitor mode I didn't see anything against the SIP peer that looked likely.

Mitel have told me that there is a DCR open for this and they may implement it in a future release.

The 'two peers' option is one we use on 3300 to achieve this and then program an 8 route in ARS so people can dial 8 instead of 9 when they want to withhold.

I'm sure I have seen anonymous on some of my traces. Privacy ticked on the user might be it. That's from memory. If that's not it I'll try and reproduce it in the lab

Where are you seeing a Privacy field? I don't see it in Users, Phones or Phones/Flags/. It's not on any one of the 1244 pages of the 5.1 Features and Programming Guide, either.

Hello,
Can I ask if you had this sorted, please?
I've got a similar issue and can't do it...
Thanks a lot

I worked around the issue by migrating the customer's SIP to a different platform, which had the "141" option of prefixing the number with 141 in order to withhold it. Extensions whose number is to be withheld go through ARS which prefixes every call with 141. Extensions whose number needs to be shown have an outgoing extension of the trunk number, bypassing ARS.
