Title: Line 1 keeps blinking and is not usable on endpoint
Post by: haucke on February 26, 2014, 01:48:13 PM
I have an endpoint that has the Call 1 (line 1) light blinking and all incoming calls go to line 2.  It acts like there is a call on hold there but we cannot clear it.  Any ideas?

Haucke,

If pressing the Hold button doesn't pull the call off of hold or pressing it doesn't retrieve a call what does it tell you when you press the key?

Is this a Call Key or a Trunk Key?

Try unplugging the phone to clear out any unwanted information on the phone. Alternately you could dial 394 if the person doesn't mind having their phone defaulted. That is if 394 is the default code on that system.

Thanks,

TE

It is the "Call 1" button on the Left column of buttons from the keypad.  Left column of five buttons, top one.  We have switched out endpoints and the new device is doing the exact same thing.  We did the 394 and no change.  If you hold the button nothing changes.  Also the blinking is slightly different than a call on hold but not by much you have to really look to see the slight difference in blinking.  Any other ideas?

Haucke,

Dial 396 (Default Code for view key) and press the button that is blinking and make sure it is an actual Call Key or Trunk Key. Sometimes phones get put in their Alternate Keymap State and the button isn't what you think it is.

396 then key press (blinking key) yields "Call Key 1"

Haucke,

What does the display tell you when you press the key? No Call to Retrieve (similar to pressing the Hold button), Busy? Have you tried pressing the Answer button if you have one?

A Call Key only has a couple of states. Incoming Ringing (flashing), Answered (solid), On Hold (flashing).

Have you tried doing a Reverse Transfer from another phone while that phone is idle?

Other than that delete the phone in programming and recreate it.

Thanks,

TE

We are going to restart the phone system tonight and if it does not go away we will delete and recreate.

What model phone? This is a known issue with 8500/20/60 style keysets.

DND ON,

What is the known resolution for this problem or does it require a software patch?

Thanks,

TE

Try assigning the phone to a different key map with call keys somewhere else (build one if you need to).  See if new call key flashes. Then move back to original.
Try doing a SWAP STATION with another similar phone, see if problem stays with extension or device.

Randomly flashing Call key normally means replacing the phone. Swap with a known working phone. If the problem follows the phone, replace the phone. If it follows the port, delete and rebuild the station.
