Title: Mitel Border Gateway
Post by: mevans1974 on September 20, 2013, 10:49:58 AM
Hi,
I have a question. We are installing Mitel Border Gateway in a MAS server with Nupoint & UC server. We will be deploying smart phone devices. The smart phone are working internal with UCA mobile, however I can't get it to work outside of the network, We have it on the DMZ so there is no port issue there. Do we need licenses in order for the mobile phone to work outside of the network.

I notice the license for TW shows 0

MAS is not supported on a DMZ.

If you are NATing your DMZ then you will have one way audio issues.

That's news to me. Of the apps in MAS, only MBG knows how to handle a DMZ configuration properly. MAS belongs on the LAN, ideally. Even on the network edge, a bastion host should have a minimal number of services for security reasons. Only MBG needs to be exposed to the Internet. Use two servers and an edge MBG, and cluster them like in the documentation.

Agree with Navarre. That's how I'd install your scenario. MBG is cheap as stand alone or virtual.

If you have the MAS/MBG in gatway mode it needs to be directly connected to the WAN and not to a DMZ. If in the DMZ it should be in server only mode for the easiest implementation. As others suggest best method to use a MAS based MBG clustered to a stand alone MBG in the DMZ.
