Title: Hiding Directory numbers from the phone book
Post by: CitySlacker on July 29, 2013, 09:51:00 AM
Hi All,

My reception would like to hide unnecessary numbers from their 5500 phone book console.  When they go to search for a number they get lots of numbers they dont need / want to see.

Is there a simple way of doing this?  i.e do not show in phone book / hide from directory?

Thanks for your help,
Andy

I believe prefixing the name with . (Full stop/period) will hide it from the directory on a phone, I assume this should work for the console as well.
I don't have one to test.

I believe even marking the name private will not take it out of the telephone directory. If its things like voicemail ports then as sarond suggests put a * or other character in front of the name and it will at least push it to the bottom of the list. No one needs to dial them by name anyway.

I believe setting them as private will hide them from the phonebook but this only applies to handsets, I don't think any entries can be hidden from the 5550 console.
