Title: Softphone

I have a client that wants a softphone.. question is do i have to have a physical phone twined with the softphone or can it just be a softphone by it's self

Either one, as long as you have DEE enabled.

For softphones, remember that they are SIP based, and a different license (Category F is for SIP) is needed than is used by IP phones (Category D for Mitel IP Phones).
