Title: what is " Alternate codec"?

 :) :'(
when i issue the command "status extension XXXX",there's alway a device type "Alternate codec" that following the real IP phone type....and the status of the "Alternate codec "type is always idle....anyone could tell how this parameter comes ? and in which situation the status of "alternate codec" could be BUSY ??

You know, I've seen that for decades and never thought to question it.
I think it has to do with addons such as LIMs and such.
Or perhaps Off Hook Voice Announce.
